Exciting New X-Men Origins: Wolverine TV Spot Hits
by Alex Billington
March 19, 2009
Although we've seen just about everything from X-Men Origins: Wolverine that Fox will show us, there is awesome new TV spot that has just hit that needs to be seen. Thanks to one of our readers, we've got the video below, and if you're excited for Wolverine in the least, you better watch this now. The TV spot names all the main characters: Wolverine, Sabretooth, Emma Frost, Agent Zero, Cyclops, Silver Fox, Blob, and Gambit. Screw the reshoots, screw all the bad things I've heard, I want to see this right now. This new TV spot looks pretty damn good. I really cannot wait to kick off the summer movie season with Wolverine!
Watch this newest TV spot for X-Men Origins: Wolverine:
Wolverine lives a mutant life, seeks revenge against Victor Creed (who will later become Sabretooth) for the death of his girlfriend, and ultimately ends up going through the mutant Weapon X program.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is directed by South African filmmaker Gavin Hood, of the Oscar winner Tsotsi and Rendition previously. The script was written by veteran screenwriter David Benioff, of 25th Hour, Troy, and The Kite Runner previosuly. The character of Wolverine was first created by Len Wein and John Romita Sr. back in 1974. Fox will debut X-Men Origins: Wolverine in theaters everywhere on May 1st.

Can we watch it now, totally badass, I could care less if it sucks, I want some summer entertainment. When does it come out, anyone?

Where's Deadpool? no mention of him weird.
John on Mar 19, 2009
This movie does not look epic... it looks like a pile.
OJ on Mar 19, 2009
Billington is so easily pleased.
AG on Mar 19, 2009
Deadpool isn't in this movie. Wade Wilson is, but not Deadpool. Not yet anyway
LW on Mar 19, 2009
Bleh. Looks decent at best.
Ian on Mar 19, 2009
it doesn't look epic... it looks cookie cutter
Janny on Mar 19, 2009
Yeah..... no Deadpool?
Jesse Gouldsbury on Mar 19, 2009
not insanely epic. but it does look awesome
PJ H on Mar 19, 2009
How is this insane or epic? Its the same as the others... Just a few small new clips, and a re-ordering of the ones we've already seen...
nate on Mar 19, 2009
Exactly. It's almost the same as the trailer at the cinemas except they chucked in the names. Still really looking forward to it though. I spose it makes sense that they didn't put deadpools name in it seeing as he isn't technically in it but wouldve been cool to see more of him.
twiggs on Mar 19, 2009
Gambit will be awesome in this..
justrobby on Mar 19, 2009
Yeah, getting a little tired of seeing that damn helicopter now.
Chris on Mar 19, 2009
God, that scene with the Helicopter looks so fucking retarded.
Adam on Mar 19, 2009
Looks freakin cheesy.. whoever did the choreography for this movie sucks balls. I have extremely low expectations for this crappy gimmicky movie.
Richard on Mar 19, 2009
The internet has a mob mentality to it. Case in point, Nicolas Cage is now a joke. This movie has lost the respect of the internet due to FOX, reshoots and the mishandling of Deadpool. People like Hugh Jackman but this looks bad. Bring on T4, Transformers, Public Enemies and Star Trek. These are the true summer movies.
SAif on Mar 19, 2009
I'm more excited to see what Ryan Reynolds can do with Deadpool than the movie itself. Should be a good movie though
Dan W on Mar 19, 2009
It looks average, worst than x-men imo, but in the end it will be worth it, i guess...

I've been saying for a while that this film will fail along with the other 2009 films made by 20th Century Fox. I mean take a look at Dragonball:Evolution and Street Fighter:Chun Li. Fox for the past 8 years have been focusing more on commercial appeal instead of films with chunky cerebral well made films. This film doesn't look any better than those two I mentioned. I do wish the best for Hugh Jackman and Liev Schreiber who are terrific actors who signed on to a 20th Century Fox production (a disaster).
Craig on Mar 19, 2009
Oh yeah and this T.V spot was incredibly corny its on par with the latest season of Power Rangers.
Craig on Mar 19, 2009
What the hell looks so amazing about this Alex? We've seen almost 95% of this footage? ...?
Frank on Mar 19, 2009

Johnny on Mar 19, 2009
Don't those claws look super fake in the main photo at the top of the page?
Cary on Mar 19, 2009
Mmmh, looks better than some of the other trailers, but I didn't even bother seeing the third X-men so maybe I'll catch this or maybe not. It could be decent though, but I sort of doubt it.
Timothy on Mar 19, 2009
Seriously, that picture you posted of wolverine has some crappy claws. I could've created that image with my tablet, the CG is that bad.
maverick on Mar 19, 2009
Alex, the previous two full trailers were MUCH improved This didn't bring any intensity or emotion so I don'tk now how this is "insanely epic" The fact that they are advertising Emma and Cyclops cameos is also retarded, how about Deadpool!?! The story for this is looking like it may be horrible if it comes to that Deadpool is Weapon XI, then we have another X3 on our hands
Fruity Loops on Mar 19, 2009
Show us maverick! we want to see real impressive claws on wolverine. impress us with your skills.
tom b. on Mar 19, 2009
im looking forward to this and im really hoping its good but i dont no i have a bad feeling its gonna fall apart, though the tv spot really gets me pumped but that damn helicopter scene just pisses me off every time its ridiculous.
Curtis on Mar 19, 2009
Cant even get the stupid thing to play!
Joel on Mar 19, 2009
this is awesome!
Josveta on Mar 19, 2009
I think they're taking cues from the fact that general audiences were walking into Watchmen not even knowing the names of the characters, and given this ensemble cast, it's a smart idea. Let's hope Gavin Hood delivers a solid blockbuster. Not for Fox, but for the Comics in general.
Django - an Alan Moore Fan on Mar 20, 2009
Haven't we've already seen this stuff before. They have just shortened it. What The!
Jamie on Mar 20, 2009
i'm glad you think it's so awesome! i think it looks cool, and i hope it will be They used the "oo, shiny" at the end again! I liked the "do you even know how to kill me?" "i'm gonna cut off your head. See if that works." ending better! it was much cooler! whatever, seeing as they will both probably be in the movie.
Susana on Mar 20, 2009
Now this is funny, INSANELY EPIC? Are you kidding me at least give us some new content, we have seen all of this already. Bah.
Atomic Popcorn on Mar 20, 2009
Alex, we get your point, the internet is a breeding ground for dicks, I being a great example. However, just because a good amount of people are bashing it doesn't necessarily mean they were doing it to piss you off. I honestly saw no significantly new footage. I read enough comics to recognize their attempts to translate them to screen, so the names do nothing for me. I haven't had much hope for this movie. I also don't have much hope for Star Trek. And up until a trailer or two ago, I thought TSalvation was going to suck too. I like this site because it has tons of great news and updates and because it is fun to bitch and moan about movies. I also think most of the staff and most of the readers share many of the the same likes and dislikes and enthusiasms and hatreds and fanboyisms and most importantly the love of arguing in general. I think that is most people on here. We can disagree. And we can call each other morons for our opinions. It is all part of the fun.
Stevo on Mar 20, 2009
WOW! The majority of you are a bunch of Ass Clowns. Grow up! Probably a bunch of pimp faced little geeks living out of your parents basement. This will be as good, if not better than X-Men 2. And X2 was an excellent flick. So... what's not to like!?
K on Mar 20, 2009
I can't wait to see it! It looks badass! You people are impossible to please. I suppose you would rather never have any comic book based movies at all! No, Wolverine in Japan, no Gambit movie, no Deadpool movie, nothing? After decades of being ignored, Hollywood has come knocking and you're so self-absorbed you're going to f*ck it up for good!
NOTyourMinion on Mar 20, 2009
Let's call this thing what it is - a quick response to the massive amount of bad press the film was getting over the Deadpool controversy (giving him laser beam eyes and swords in his arms, etc). While a lot of this is footage we've already seen, there is a lot of new stuff and it looks like Fox is trying to get people to look more at the entire cast so that they won't focus on the parts they may have messed up (I say "may have" because until I see the movie I won't judge them for changing the character's origins around and making Wolvie and Sabertooth brothers - maybe it will work even though it goes against the comics and established character history). This is a much better trailer IMHO because now I actually want to see the movie again. I pretty much gave up on this film after the last one.
Pete the Geek on Mar 20, 2009
oooooh. shiny. Really?
Brian Ricci on Mar 20, 2009
I'm just confused. Who are the X-men "Witness" and "The Origin". I've never even heard of them.

zetsu on Mar 20, 2009
Alex, For your article you need to say more - What's good and bad about it? Explain how it's epic or not, etc. For instance, only 5% of it is new and those scenes are just talking. It's the same intro, action sequences and ending we've seen TWICE before to the SAME background music. It also doesn't show anything about Deadpool or anything new on other favs like Gambit - Still we've not seen Beak played by Dominic Monaghan. Does the listing of Emma's and Cyclops names mean they are more than cameos? Do they have a bigger role in this than Deadpool? Will Emma have her accent? So, why is this epic?
Rad on Mar 20, 2009
This movie might suck. wheres storm.
JUAJA on Mar 20, 2009
Hey 17! Nic Cage HAS ALWAYS been a JOKE! And Deadpool is the suprise! C'mon u guys!
Tim "Cloverfield" on Mar 20, 2009
The amount of times that Stryker has said "The wars...knowing the woman you loved would be hunted down..." ANd I'm like, really? Is that all his lines in the damn movies?
Movie Fan on Mar 20, 2009
Where is Deadpool? Maybe it is more of a secret or bit part??????
Ryan on Mar 20, 2009
w00t? That helicopter scene is the worse and they need to take that out.
Hey Ya on Mar 20, 2009
To #45 ur right . Everytime i come on here people are just crying about movies they will most likly see . Its really sad to read from people to say " this movie will blow hard" even before they see a clip or anything . I know what kind of people they are cause I have met them . I have never critized a movie before it came out . It dosent make sense to . From what I have seen Wolverine looks awesome much better then the vast majoirty of movies i have seen coming out lately . Maybe its just preference . Like im not really that intrested in Terminator 4 yet some people are so fan crazy about it that they trash any other summer movie this year . But in the end they will continue to cry and complain like teenage girls that are chubby no matter what . If u dont care about Wolverine then please dont post comments abotu it anymore and yes . Get a damn life . For everyone else I will be there May 1st.
Superchyle on Mar 20, 2009
See the great thing about the internet is that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. When I said this movie looks like a pile, I was not "trashing" or "dissing" Alex's opinion, I was simply stating mine... Isn't that the point of having a comments section on a movie blog/website anyway? Everyone's got their own opinions on what films are, or will be great... and mine is, that this looks very bad. Some people take it way too personally when people disagree or say a film looks bad. EACH TO THEIR OWN. For instance, I think Observe and Report looks hilarious, but a lot of people seem to disagree. I'm not going to tell anyone to "get a damn life" or "shut up", that is simply juvenile.
OJ on Mar 20, 2009
I am totally looking forward to this movie...39 days left.
Fisherr on Mar 20, 2009
Who really gives a flyin' about this film. X-men The Last Stand really sucked and this looks just as cheesy as that film. I have not seen a good film come out from fox for awhile now. Fox need to hand the property over to marvel so they can make x-men movies at paramount and they will kick ass like Ironman & The Incredible Hulk did last year.
Jamie on Mar 21, 2009
Alex, Dont worry too much about what these people say, you cant please everyone. This movie looks entertaining, but in my opinion overrated.
B Mo on Mar 21, 2009
I find a synopsis to the movie from someone who saw a screen test of the movie. http://www.scottadkinsfanz.org/massive-wolverine-spoiler-dont-read-if-u-dont-like-it-t441.html i don't know if it's true but it damn sure looks like it. you be the judge
