Justin Theroux Producing an Air Guitar Feature for Paramount

Now this sounds like a very fun project. Earlier in the week it was announced (via the Risky Biz Blog) that actor/writer Justin Theroux (who last produced Tropic Thunder) would be signing on to produce Air Guitar, a story set in the competitive world of air guitar. The comedy was originally based on and inspired by the popular documentary Air Guitar Nation and the book To Air Is Human written by Dan Crane, who plays under the name Bjorn Turoque. Paramount has now brought on up-and-coming writers Mike Lisbe and Nate Reger ("Just Shoot Me!", "Teachers") to pen the script with Theroux producing and developing.
Theroux is not considering directing or acting in Air Guitar at this time, which means this still needs a director. It was originally a DreamWorks project, but it ended up at Paramount once the studios split. In regards to the story, I'm pretty sure this is going to be another one of those underdrog, rise-to-fame kind of musician movies, but set in the air guitar world instead. When Air Guitar Nation was being released, I remember every other movie guy I know getting caught up in the air guitar craze, so if it at least has the same energy as that doc, they'll have a hit on their hands for sure. We'll keep you updated! Sound good?
