Katee Sackhoff Wants to Play Typhoid Mary from Daredevil?

Typhoid Mary - Katee Sackhoff

I know, I know, I hate these "she was seen with" rumors, too, but this one is far more legitimate than the Eva Longoria story from last year. Over on the blog for the Golden Apple comic book shop in Hollywood (where I buy all my comics from), they mention that "Battlestar Galactica" actress Katee Sackhoff stopped by their store looking for "all the Typhoid Mary comics we had and has hopes to get a part for a Marvel movie." Those familiar with Daredevil comics know that Typhoid Mary is one of his lovers and longtime foes. Could that Daredevil reboot that was rumored about last year actually be taking shape already?

Rumors of a new Daredevil movie first arose late last year when IESB talked with Fox's Tom Rothman, who said that a reboot "is something we are thinking very seriously about." Since then, we haven't heard anything, probably because Fox was focusing all of their efforts on Wolverine and only talking about spin-offs related to that franchise. But now with this update, it may mean that the project is actually moving along quickly. Can they already be casting? Do they even have a script? Is Jason Statham still in the running to play Matt Murdock? These are some big questions that I wish we had the answers for already.

We all know that in 2003, Daredevil came to the big screen starring Ben Affleck. However, I don't know anyone who thinks of it as one of their favorite comic book movies, by any means, so a reboot wouldn't be a bad idea. I'll leave the discussion open for now, because I don't want to get further into this until it's official. But if you're a comic fan and are familiar with Typhoid Mary, then be sure to let us know what you think!

jason statham as daredevil sounds like a really bad idea and this new casting choice idea sounds even worse, maybe the best choice for daredevil is to move it to lionsgate/marvel knights and get a hardcore rated r and a punisher vs daredevil movie

They should get Justin Hartley, the dude who plays Oliver Queen in Smallville.

Darunia on May 23, 2009

Jason Statham looks the part of daredevil but I just can't see him doing good in it.

Daredevil wasn't horrible but it does need a reboot. And keep the guy from Miami vice as far away as possible.

Cat on May 23, 2009

"I know, I know, I hate these "she was seen with" rumors, too" Then don't post them. It's pretty simple.

Tom on May 23, 2009

Tom - I post them because they make for good discussion... And as I said, this is actually a legitimate sort of thing. Do you want to see a new Daredevil movie or not?

Alex Billington on May 23, 2009

I actually really enjoyed Daredevil with Affleck. I don't think anyone could get over him in that suit with the little horns though which killed any chance the film had. I'd be interested to see a reboot, but they need to get some talented unknown actor or else they run the risk of having the same exact problem again. I heard rumors of Michael C. Hall awhile back which might work.

The original Daredevil actually did well didn't it? It was the Elektra movie that killed the franchise, not Ben Affleck. I don't think a "reboot" is necessary, but either way I'd love to see Daredevil back on the big screen. I just wish it was a Marvel Studios picture and not Fox, so Daredevil could be in crossovers. Remember, another one of Daredevil's love interests is the Black Widow....

Katee Sackhoff as scantily clad super villain has my seal of approval. The quality of the rest of the movie is of less significance.

MidnightMan on May 23, 2009

I totally agree with #7 as I think Daredevil is very underrated! Ben Affleck is good in that film and the directors cut is a really interesting watch. Fanboy hate is unwarranted! chuck on May 23, 2009

Yeah, I think "Daredevil" with Ben Affleck was ok. Then again, the "Fantastic Four" movies were ok too, kiddie fare, but ok. I also heard about a reboot possibility with these films! I think Katee Sackhoff would rock as Typhoid Mary! She was the best thing about the TV reboot of the "Bionic Woman" (remember that from 2 years ago?)! I say bring it on! .....Just no Statham!

Afleck wan't deathly bad but it wasn't his shining moment by any means. Jason as daredevil.....Hmmm. Seems like it would be fun. Daredevils a gritty and darker hero. THe movie would need a solid R rating though. I mean I know why comic movies shoot for a crowd friendly rating but I hate how it more often then not cheapens the movie. She seems like a good runner for Mary, I wonder how she'll pull off Marys multiple personalites. Interesting fact though for you Alex and the rest here, Mary's appeared almost as much in Deadpool as in Daredevil. Just a little food for thought.

WOOT! jason statham needs to be dare devil! i bet none of you have even seen 2 of his movies that arent transporter or the crank series he is a great actor and he can play this man

zach on May 23, 2009

Having Typhoid Mary as the villain would be awesome, she is a great character. As far as who should be Daredevil though you have to cast for Matt Murdock. I too had no problem with Affleck. The story in that movie was a bit weak but that's not his fault. I mean if you don't cast for a hero's alter ego why not just cast a stunt guy.

Moviegimp on May 23, 2009

MICHAEL C. HALL FTW! I would LOVE to see Dexter playing Murdock, that would be sweet! Oh, thought I might mention that I really enjoyed Daredevil (when it came out..i think i might have been 14). But over the years it's gotten kinda stale and definitely needs a reboot.

Dresden on May 23, 2009

keep statham away from DD, please. I can see Michael C. Hall as a pretty good Matt Murdock though

Caleb on May 23, 2009

Affleck wasn't bad as DD, in my opinion is was that hack director Mark Steven Johnson. The guy couldn't direct his way outta a wet paper bag. I've never seen Statham pull off an American accent and I think he's better suited as Union Jack the blue collar hero of the UK than a Irish Catholic lawyer from NY.

PimpSlapStick on May 23, 2009

i would be on board only if marvel was doing it. f*cking hate fox with a passion. daredevil was one of my fave growing up. would hate for it to get the xmen wolverine orign treatment.

allamerican_97 on May 23, 2009

First get a good director I say hand it over to David Fincher, second make sure it gets a hard R rating and I think they should keep Affleck he's a good actor in the right hands.

Man F*** It !!! Fox Is Constantly Shootin' blank With The Marvel Materials & I Think The 2nd Time Might Be Worse. In My Mind Is Like This: Fox + Any Comics = Bad Things Happenin' PS - I Love JaSoN STaTHaM Movies But Casting Him As Daredevil Is By All Means A Bad Idea.

Jams Ford on May 24, 2009

Why reboot when you can move on the last movie wasn't bad it didn't suck to me,would love to see Affleck back in a sequel and Typhoid Mary could be included no problems But reboot? Stop rebooting guys, somebody should kill Tom Rothman the guy has a PhD certificate in screwing everything up.

Fisherr on May 24, 2009

I'm not gonna go if Fox is doing it. Fox makes these movies with horrible writing, horrible character - they care more about explosions and superhero poses - (exhibit A Wolverine movie). If Marvel is in charge, I'll go - otherwise I'll stay away.

Matt on May 24, 2009

Sackhoff as Mary sounds amazing. Love the character, love Katee. And yesssss, Michael C. Hall needs to be in this!

Linds on May 25, 2009

This chick looks way more the part to have played Black Widow than Scarlet Howeveryouspellthat. Don't really feel one way or the other about her playing Mary, but just from that picture, Widow popped into my head and my 9 year old sister could act better than Scarlet so... yeah. Would like to see a Daredevil movie, if done right. Not with Stratham. I agree with Matt, too, Marvel shoudl definatly be making the movie, like they did with Iron Man and Hulk, which turned out better than any other Marvel movie done before.
