Ali Larter in Resident Evil: Extinction

The Paul W.S. Anderson film you've all been waiting for, Resident Evil: Afterlife, the fourth film in the franchise based on the popular video game series, has nearly rounded out its cast already - and thanks to The Surrogates star Boris Kodjoe and BlackFilm.com, we've got the names and some plot tidbits for you. When sitting down with Black Film, Kodjoe revealed (read: spilled) that "Prison Break" star Wentworth Miller has joined the cast along with "Heroes" sexy vixen Ali Larter will be returning as Claire Redfield (from the third film). As for Kodjoe's character and the plot of RE: Afterlife, he went into a bit more detail.

"I play the leader of the survivors in LA. Milla Jovovich's character, Alice, is roaming the world looking for survivors and she's wound up in L.A., which has been burning for three years. She comes across an L.A. jail surrounded be these half-dead, uhh… [Zombies. The word he's looking for is 'zombies.'] Yeah, they're those monsters, what are they called? Anyway, she comes across the jail and there's a couple of survivors and she lands on top of the roof and partners up with me to fight the guys that are coming after them. We're trying to get all of the survivors out of the jail to safety. We're starting next week, actually."

So, starting next week in Toronto, Resident Evil: Afterlife will begin filming - and it appears to be a tried and true zombie-survival film. But Paul W.S. Anderson is apparently using the the same cameras James Cameron used for Avatar - so, you know, there's that. He's also returning to both write and direct the film after taking a hiatus from both jobs since the original. For my money (and yes, I paid to see it) Resident Evil: Extinction was a real disappointment. But I'm always down for some more gluttonous zombie fare - especially when framed by a prison break scenario in a gritty post-apocalyptic setting. Anyone else?

this needs to die already. period. is there any hope for videogame adaptations? Maybe not. But you can be sure that they'll keep trying to milk it with lackluster videogame movies till there's absolutely no appeal in them at all. Squeeze every penny out of failed (and really lazy) attempts at the adaptation is pretty much the studios' appproach to it.

#1 is right. This franchise has to stop. Does anyone remember how bad extinction is. The first two were good, but this has franchise is done. It's so unfaithful to the games it's not even funny.

The series sucked. Its not even close to what Resident Evil really is.

its actually one of the better series in terms fo enjoying the flicks for what they are...fun and zombies. It might not be resident evil but how many viewers do you think have ever played the games? 1 in 10...maybe? If they would cater to the gaming crowd they would've gone out of business with this after the first movie. Let'em do more so long as they can score a minimum 7/10 in general as a movie...which the last one on a personal basis reached and slightly surpassed. The first being the best of course. What really needs to die is bad productions that thinking hiring 2nd rate directors, 1 celebrity shitty actor and a tiny amount of money will make a good game movie.

I can't stand this fake movie based on fake documentary bullshit. The trailer is soooooo pretentious and Milla is DOOOOOONNNNNNEEEEE! She's made enough money off the geeks, but nothing including a brief meeting with her at Planet Hollywood would ever lead me to believe that she has the fanboys best interest in mind. She can't get legit shit so she's doomed to these hack films. Yeah I'm sure she'll tell you their fun,but can you really see her taking genuine time to answer geek questions from adoring fans if approached on the street? Now if news were to come out tomorrow that she's directing a new movie based on some amazing comic book or whatever I might change my mind. I mean why not. She's been in the Sci Fi Fantasy(yes I said Sci-Fi Fantasy)genre for soooo long does she really like it? I mean come on. This bitch is a glorified pin up. I'd love to see her home. I bet you couldn't find so much as a comic book lying around. I wonder if she has a game unit or god forbid a Warcraft account. I'm so sick of these actors and actresses faking the funk. They arrive to the set with their agents at their side giving them the run down on a movie their starring in based on a comic or video game or novel that has been around for ever. Am I the only one who gets pissed when you see an actor in a junket say "I actually had never heard of (insert movie title here) until I was approached with the role"……I guess hat's the way the cookie crumbles but fuck!!!

^^^^the above is a post I posted earlier regarding another Mila Jovovich joint (the fourth kind). Some of the info does not pertain to this article but most of it does.

I was okay with the first one, up to a point. The series though really has never captured the game in my opinion. I'm not really happy to see a fourth.

You Game Geeks need calm down and fucking deal with it seriously, can't expect every fucking movie to be amazing, these movies are fine there not amazing they don't actually suck, there fun flicks to watch. These movies are supposed to make you think of the game not be the EXACT story and what not. Every game movies I see on this site you Geeks/Kids/idiots say OMFG they suck god, next! sheesh grow some balls or just stfu and go watch your fucking lord of the rings.

12. you took time out of your life to tell geeks/kids/ idiots to grow the fuck up after you have seen on numerous occasions that thier opinion doesnt change on these kinds of flicks. So- after seeing they DONT CHANGE you come and tell them to CHANGE. Which is gonna hold up more? Your plea for change or them not changing? You wasted your time and now you look like the Geek-Kid-Idiot. Maybe you should get over it and be happy with what you like and let the Geeks chill out. Maybe they will stop watching it and you'll learn to be the one to stfu and watch lord of the rings. BTW, geeks werent the only ones to watch LOTR. Check out its gross income and awards. Yeah- time for you to stfu, buddy.

Hmmm... i dont know about this movie. Some of the things they did in the other ones were cool and some of the stuff they tried to pull off just plain sucked. the tyrant for example looked like something someone would wear on halloween. Lol- but, if they think they can get some money out of it and make the fans smile just a little then i suppose they should go ahead with it. i would watch it just cause im a fan of the series. then again, the premise for the movie sounds a bit played out, like- alot. well see i suppose. i hope it comes out on a weekend by itself otherwise it could get toppled, easily

This almost seems like a reboot not a part 4 sense there not continuing off from part 3, which they should reboot it with Chris Redfield like there doing, would be great!

geese, how do you think this movie would die when it has made some money? so far the franchise is okay and it does not speak up for much of you guys who hates it. let's not try to be subjective about this one trying to stick with the video game. at some point writers and creators of such film adapted from video games or the like will have to deviate from its original source....

Loved the first one, the second one and the third one. But didn't she have a crapload of clones of her and a company to obliterate. Seems to me story continuity should be key and it may have dropped the ball.
