Michael Bay

We've seen that awesome Super Bowl TV spot and we know the full trailer hits this weekend in front of Friday the 13th, so I think it's safe to say that buzz for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is pretty much through the roof at the moment. Our friends at Collider caught up with Michael Bay on the red carpet of the Friday the 13th premiere yesterday and drilled him about all things Transformers 2. Bay says that it's a lot darker than the first one and reveals that the current running time is about 2 hours and 20 minutes. It's a really fun interview and definitely worth watching if you're excited for the new Transformers.

The other great quote from Bay about the sequel was about how they've developed the robots this time around. "It's a great adventure, but the thing that I like about it, is the robots have much more personality," Bay says. "Now we can really get these robots to emote, and it's fun." Check it out:

Just listening to Michael Bay talk about the kind of crazy stuff he pulls off with the military or with the pyramids (see photo here) is pretty remarkable. Even if you hate his movies, this guy really does some impressive stuff with his movies. I'm admittedly one hell of big a Michael Bay fan and I can't wait to see how much he's stepped it up and made things bigger and better in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is again directed by action film superstar Michael Bay of Bad Boys, The Rock, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, The Island, and Transformers previously. The story and screenplay for the sequel was written by Transformers writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci as well as Ehren Kruger (The Ring, The Brothers Grimm, Blood and Chocolate). Paramount is unleashing Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in both IMAX and regular theaters on June 26th this summer. We'll be there!

He is a lot funnier than I ever thought he would be.

Michael Bay is one of the worst hacks ever to hit Hollywood and Alex is "one hell of a big fan" of his. Can't say I'm surprised, to be honest.

Wottock Hunt on Feb 10, 2009

And people say he has an ego... Noooooo. Come on. He's as modest as they come. AWESOME!

TX9000 on Feb 10, 2009

Really Wottock? What makes him a hack? I'd really like to hear the reason why. Darker, more personality, and a tentative running time that's going to change by the end of the week. I don't really find that to be "crazy hype." Look forward to seeing it, but I don't need the smoke blown up my butt.

I'm gonna agree w/ the majority here, I never thought Michael Bay would be that approachable. Not only that, he was uber-pleasent, and has a pretty good sense of humor.

nate on Feb 10, 2009

I meant "crazy" in a fun way Robert, just the way he's talking about it and what he does in the interview... Crazy in that sense, not in what he reveals about Transformers 2.

Alex Billington on Feb 10, 2009

Great interview. Seriously haters back off. Michael Bay is awesome, and Orci and Kurtzman have hit their stride hardcore this year.

Fuelbot on Feb 10, 2009

Michael Bay is absolutely cool. It's great to know that an energetic guy like him can make Hollywood movies and just rant about them like a true fan. Really more down-to-Earth than you'd think. This movie will rock!!

This guy is pretty funny. Definitely a people person. Based on th info he gave us, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" is gonna kick ass. This doesn't seem like being a hack in my book, but as always, haters do sprout out of the wood work with every flick on the radar.

Spider on Feb 10, 2009

I love Michael Bay, and I love his movies. Not many people can do what he does, especially so well. Can you imagine the scale of a production like Transformers, and what it takes to run it. Great interview.

I saw him here in Albuquerque NM, not long ago if i knew he was that cool I would have said, Dude! Transformers Rocks! done a high 5 and then been out

I'm really excited for this movie. Michael Bay is awesome! I love how he's wants to tell all but holds back. This is my #1 movie for this year, with out a doubt.

#3 your taking movies way to seriously. There's always the time and place for serious movies. Movies like "lives of others". They are important yeah but personally I want to go to the movies to be awe'd and sometimes thats means some 'cheese'. Yeah hes not a serious film maker, his movies are predictable and the scripts are not Oscar stuff but man, some of the are just fun...Fun because we dont need to be serious all the time. Sometimes its all about cheese, hot chicks and amazing effects...:)

I look forward to this fun movie!! Thanks Alex!!

Everyday someone jumps on the "I hate Michael Bay" bandwagon for no good reason -- as you can see from the idiot pseudonym [Wottock Hunt]. I think this interview shows he's just a regular guy who likes making big entertaining movies
