Minor Updates from Robert Rodriguez on Future Projects
Robert Rodriguez, who lives down in Austin, stopped by SXSW this week and talked with the guys over at Cinema Blend, giving them quite a few updates on numerous projects in the works. Of course, the first question anyone asks him is when we'll ever see Sin City 2, which has become a more pressing question considering all of the buzz we keep hearing people like Frank Miller and Rosario Dawson. Unfortunately it's the same story as before. "I always say Sin City 2 [is] right around the corner, because that's what everybody wants to hear and I like pleasing the audience," he admits, but, "it might be a long corner." Too bad.
Next in the queue of topics to ask about is always Machete and if we'll ever see Rodriguez direct a full-length feature with Danny Trejo, as has been talked about countless times before. On this front, however, things seem a bit more positive. Rodriguez says, "I'm not going to bullshit you guys. We are making Machete. We've already got the script and we're ready to go." Anytime any member of the press talks with Danny Trejo, which is oddly quite often, he always boasts about how they're finally going to make the Machete movie. Well, he's been saying that for two years straight, but maybe this is finally a good sign?
And last but not least, how about we talk about a project that we know for certain he's actually working on - Nerveracker. This is a project I'd love to hear more about, considering it was just announced and we don't know much. But unfortunately Rodriguez doesn't say much, except for this poignant tidbit: "I used to say [that it's] kind of like Blade Runner, but that was Blade Walker. This is Blade Runner." Ouch. To be honest, I like Rodriguez and think he's potentially got a badass movie in the works with Nerveracker, so I'll let him say whatever he wants until I'm proven otherwise. We'll let you know when we have any more updates.

Sadly i don't even really care about Sin City 2 if Dil hole Rorick doesn't play Marv again. I may hate the guy but he was PERFECT as Marv.

I think Rourke has had enough hatred thrown at him already, give battered man a break. Miller brought back Marv in subsequent editions of Sin City even though he died in the first novel like in the movie. I doubt Rodriguez would allow a non-Rourked Marv, his turn in the first Sin City was creepy perfect. Without that performance it wouldn't have had the lasting effect it has had (not to diminish a great,as always, turn by Bruce Willis, and Clive Owen). He was the heartbeat of that film.

Something fishy is going on here. What's the REAL reason why the "speed of thought" director isn't doing what he loves to do?

Doesn't he have some family oriented kids film coming out soon to line his pockets in preparation for his passion projects? I could care less about machete, but I'm all for Sin City 2.
