Must Watch: David Twohy's A Perfect Getaway Trailer

After months of delays, the first trailer for David Twohy's A Perfect Getaway has debuted. The tropical thriller stars Steve Zahn and Milla Jovovich as a couple who take a vacation to a remote island in Hawaii only to discover that they're being stalked by some psychopaths. Those two are joined by Timothy Olyphant, Kiele Sanchez, and the new Thor, Chris Hemsworth. This actually looked pretty good - right up until that CGI axe came flying at the screen. The hyper-active montage following that shot also looks a bit intense. Maybe it'll be crazy? I'll be checking this out for sure, but I'll be going in cautiously optimistic. Enjoy!

Two pairs of newlywed couples on a vacation to Hawaii discover that psychopaths are stalking and murdering tourists on the islands. Paradise becomes hell on earth as a brutal battle for survival begins.
A Perfect Getaway is both written and directed by David Twohy, creator of Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick and director of Timescape, The Arrival, and Below previously. The film was originally slated for release in March this year, but was delayed until the summer when Universal decided they wanted to release it instead of MGM. A Perfect Getaway will be arriving in theaters everywhere on August 14th this year.

Although the storyline is somewhat cliche, it looks like an entertaining flick. It has a great cast and frankly I like the feel of it, enough to overlook the repetetive storyline.

Alex, I think you're pushing the "Must Watch" button a little hard here... I generally agree with your use of the tag, but not this time. I was getting excited about the dark, brooding film presented in the first half of the trailer... But I agree, all of that disjointed action was overwhelming and in the end made the film feel like a typical, no surprises survival thriller. Trailers for such films seldom build up enough tension or excitement to keep viewers (or myself, at least) interested, instead blowing their wad with lots of chaotic, almost unintelligible violence and mayhem. There's nothing wrong with action, but don't show a second from every action-oriented scene in the film cut together. In this case, it really doesn't seem like A Perfect Getaway has anything new to offer.

Every trailer has a NIN song in it these days - that's how Trent can afford to give away his albums now.

Looks Good too me! everyone else get off your high horse. This movie is meant to be what it is a thriller not a Oscar winner. Good Cast.

A man and a women huh....thats odd because Steve Zahn and Milla are a man and a women...if that is how the film ends I will kill a kitten.

Better to be disappointed now with the trailer, than later at the theater without $10. Pass.

Well, gee... I wonder who the antagonists are? And gosh, I wonder what will happen? Will the protagonists survive? Will the psycho couple cut them up and get away scott free? Man, that would be a downer of an ending, huh? Could they have possibly given away any more of the plot? What the hell is wrong with the people who cut these trailers? Studios could save a lot of money by just condensing the whole film into a couple minutes and then showing the ending for three or four minutes and then rolling the credits. At least then the movies wouldn't be a waste of time. If I had been interested in seeing it, I no longer am now that I know the whole fucking movie.

Woot this is a must watch - its got some vibrance and pace thats missing in a lot of action/adventure films. I'm looking forward to it even if it is just a run of the mill summer action film.

Hmm. Deliverence for yuppies. May strike a chord in today's socio-economic climate. #18 - interesting comment.

"Steve Zahn and Milla Jovovich as a couple" --- Really? They want us to buy that? Only in Hollywood, aye...

That looks better than I was expecting. After the slow intro it kicks. Just from the little of Chris Hemsworth, I'm more convinced he's a good choice for Thor. Obviously have to wait and see the entire flick but he's got the size and he looks a little crazy in this flick.

Anything with Timothy Olyphant gets a look in my opinion (sure he played 2nd fiddle to Ian McShane on Deadwood, but he was still awesome.) And this one looks like they're actually using his talents right.

Ah, Timothy Olyphant - born to play the bad guy. This doesn't look like anything special, but it's nice to see Milla return to the tropics. It's just odd to see her not surrounded by the undead. And #28 - EVERYONE plays second fiddle when McShane is on the screen.

Looks like a fun movie. I don't normally go for this type, but I love Hawaii and also enjoy "No paradise" stories. Let me guess though, Mila and Steve have sex in the mud whilst being chased by the psychos and there is a huge final fight between them all when the protagonist couple decides not to run anymore, like Apocalypto or pretty much any Western. And Mila and Steve turn on each other at one point too and find they can't survive without one another. #18 - I don't trust anyone anyhow.

Lookin' forward to this one. And I agree with DukePhoenix, NIN has gotten a lot of commercialism with their music being used in trailers as of late. But who cares? Trent is God!

All I have to say is: Didn't we already see this idea with Surviving The Game w/ Ice-T back in the 90's?

ho guy, I live there! That's kauai. That trail that they are on always has people on it, it's one of the more popular places on the island. A lot of people even live there(they aren't supposed to though and a lot of them litter which is irritating, even more irritating that a lot of the people living in the wilderness on the north side of the island live off of government money and rarely work real jobs...). But yea, check'um out if you ever visit kauai. I haven't been out of hawaii much but from what I hear from many visitors who have traveled the world multiple times over that area in the movie is one of the most beautiful places in the world.

I just saw the film, it was great! Lots of goodaction, and Timothy Olyphant was awesome! Steve Zahn and Milla Jovovich played their roles amazingly as well...brought the right touch of suspense and thrills, not to mention twists in the plot to make it even more interesting..Definitely a must see in my book!
