Must Watch: First Teaser Trailer for Dominic Sena's Whiteout
by Alex Billington
June 17, 2009
An unofficial teaser trailer for the comic book adaptation Whiteout has finally popped up online. This is another one of those Warner Brothers projects (like Trick 'r Treat) that has been delayed for an excessively long amount of time. This was actually shot in early 2007 and even had a presence at Comic-Con a few years ago. But since then they've kept hidden at the studio. It's now officially set to hit theaters in September and this is the first teaser. Kate Beckinsale stars as US Marshal who flies down to Antarctica to investigate a murder. It looks like a claustrophobic thriller reminiscent of The Descent, but set on Antarctica instead.
Note: Warner Brothers has allowed us to put this back up - but it's not the official trailer for the movie.
Watch the first trailer for Dominic Sena's Whiteout:
Carrie Stetko (Kate Beckinsale) is a lone U.S. Marshal assigned to Antarctica whose investigation of the continent's first murder draws her into a shocking mystery. Now, with only three days until winter, Carrie must solve the crime before Antarctica is plunged into darkness and she is stranded with the killer.
Whiteout is directed by ex-music video director Dominic Sena, of Gone in Sixty Seconds and Swordfish previously. The screenplay was written by brothers Jon and Erich Hoeber as well as brothers Carey and Chad Hayes (House of Wax, The Reaping). This is an adaptation of Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber's graphic novel of the same name. Warner Brothers will finally release Whiteout in theaters on September 11th.

You know people are going to start comparing this to 30 Days of Night, now me for instance I'll give this movie a chance.

not really ... i think its more similar to the thing, 30 days of night was escaping from vampires during 30 days of night, and this is something complitly different

looks very promising, but yeah, I remember reading about this film a while ago because I love Kate Beckinsale, so it was nice to see it resurface.

I'm totally going to watch this. Only because I'm interested in working for Raytheon and I'm hoping it scares me out of the idea. nah being that far away from people sounds to good to be true.

Good trailer and excellent premise, but I can't get all that excited, seeing as it's directed by the guy who made Swordfish and Gone in Sixty Seconds.

so, at 1:08 the narrator says that the snow is so thick you can't see 6 inches in front of you. How come I can see the station with lights that's probably 20 feet away? Interesting.

Doesn't look bad, and I just can't figure some of these comments out. Why does this look bad? Honestly, trailers aren't worth shit anymore, since they're all limited to nothing but split-second cuts of actiony bits all the time. Even more cerebral films end up getting shit trailers like this. A lot of those actiony shots looked like they were from the same scene, but I guess it's hard to judge since I'm basing that guess on the fact that it's 1) dark and 2) snowing... but I suppose that it's like that a lot in antarctica...
