An Education Trailer

Sony Pictures Classics has finally debuted the trailer for the Sundance hit An Education, starring Carey Mulligan and Peter Sarsgaard, and directed by Lone Scherfig. This is a great trailer for a fantastic coming-of-age film with an actress who I bet might end up winning the Oscar next year. When I first walked into to see this during Sundance, I wasn't expecting to like it, as I'm usually not a fan of dainty period pieces. But this film is exquisite in every aspect, beyond just Mulligan's performance. It eventually won the Audience Award and Cinematography Award at Sundance, deservedly so because it is so phenomenal. Watch this!

An Education is directed by Danish filmmaker Lone Scherfig, of The Birthday Trip, On Our Own, Wilbur Wants to Kill Himself, and Just Like Home previously. The screenplay was written by British author Nick Hornby, of only Fever Pitch previously as well as the novels that About a Boy and High Fidelity were based on. This first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year where it won the Audience Award and Cinematography Award. Sony Pictures Classics is bringing An Education to theaters on October 9th.

Looks amazing! To think, we didn't even notice Carey Mulligan in Pride and Prejudice or Public Enemies. She looks stellar in this 🙂

Looks good. The setting was done really well, it's very 60s.

I've always wondered about Europe in the 60's perhaps this will be a good insight into it. Oh and as for the film love it!

Has Olivia Williams been cast as a teacher, again? Didn't take me 1 second to recognize her from Rushmore, the 1998 Wes Anderson film. The trailer looks fantastic, I'm just not sure I'd like the movie. Looks a bit cliched plotwise. Will probably check it out, Sony Classics have always been releasing good stuff.

Alfred Molina!!! Trailer makes it all too predictable, and if I'm wrong, Ill be happier for it. But if what I've heard is true, the acting makes this film, and thats what im mainly going to go see it for.

looks great put peter sarsgaard and alfred molina in the same movie and sparks will fly… this movie looks beautiful… plus the score was amazing… and i get a feeling mulligan should be cast as jackie O if ever there is a jackie O biopic… she looks perfect for that part… as does she here…

This is one lame trailer, I barely finished it. It's a chick flick, every teenage girl's fantasy, a knight on the white horse. Good cast but the film looks unbearable to watch. Yuck.

Wow, I was not expecting to be interested in this after reading the blurb. Good catch, thanks Alex.

the first half of the trailer seemed too much like predictable "fluff". but the second half had me hooked. the acting looks very good..........molina and sarsgaard are excellent actors and the the female lead looks good too.

10 and 14 you hit the nail on the head... absolutely terrible... just like most of the stuff coming out nowadays. I dont think I will even be going to a theatre in 2010 to watch a movie so far

Looks like it will be well done but completely unoriginal and soulless. Will probably look great, have great performances, and yet still be completely worthless.

I agree that the trailer is pretty lame but it still looks like there is something worth watching in there, somewhere. I'm very interested to see a straight Nick Hornby screenplay.

10, 14, and 15. I have a feeling this genre of film wasn't intended for you in the first place. This film looks like a fabulous love story and very well done. The trailer is top notch. I will be watching this with my fiance', she's going to love it.

She looks a lot like Michelle Williams. Movie looks good too. Not sure I'll go to the theatre for it, but I'll definitely put it on my to-rent list.
