The Hurt Locker Trailer

To do this job, you have to be brave, you have to be crazy, and you have to be the best. This is not an Iraq war movie. This is an action movie. Summit has finally debuted the trailer for Kathryn Bigelow's The Hurt Locker. I saw this a few weeks ago and it's everything you'd want it to be and so much more. It's truly an extraordinary film and I can't suggest it enough. I almost don't want anyone to watch this trailer, because I don't want any of the incredibly thrilling moments to be spoiled. But everyone has to watch this, so that they realize how fantastic it is and they all go and see The Hurt Locker this summer. Please watch this trailer!

The Hurt Locker is directed by Kathryn Bigelow, of Blue Steel, Point Break, K-19: The Widowmaker, and Mission Zero previously. The original screenplay was written by Mark Boal, who is an actual war photographer who spent time in Iraq with a real EOD squad and came back with riveting stories that became the inspiration for the film. Summit Entertainment picked up the distribution rights to this during the Toronto Film Festival last year and will be debuting it in limited theaters starting on June 26th.

#1- Because they don't make money.

If anyone's interested I've got a review of this on my site... it was the best Iraq war film to date, and it took a female film maker to finally portray what's going on over there with such insight.

"This is an action movie." When I think of action movies I don't usually think of a guy in the hugest armor you've ever seen sitting/standing still defusing a bomb. However on that note, it doesn't look terrible. I'll probably rent it.

D on Apr 15, 2009

Mild Spoilers- Caught a screening of was completely inaccurate. It’s sad they had all of right ingredients to make a truly powerful film, but in the end it lost me. NO unit in Iraq or Afghanistan rolls in a one vehicle convey. NO unit in Iraq clears a huge building with two personnel. NO soldier ever leaves a FOB alone. Very, Very disappointed in this film. As a veteran of Iraq, I long for the day when I will see a solid film about Iraq. They need to hurry up and make House to House or Lone Survivor into a film.

Wow looks awesome, I'm kinda disappointed by what Jay is saying, my buddy here at work used to actually disarm bombs out there and I showed this to him and he seemed indifferent to it, but said it looked cool, so I'm not sure what to think.

Richard on Apr 15, 2009

Forget Jay, this is a great movie. I'm sorry it's not AS accurate as he wants it to be, but I guess that's the whole point of dramatic license. It IS a powerful film.

Fuelbot on Apr 15, 2009

THAT WAS FREAKIN' BAD ASS!!! Other than Watchmen and Avatar... my most anticipated movie of 2009. It's something sooo different than we've seen in previous war movies.

@ #8... Hey man! Play nice now! Don't disrespect our present or past soliders. I personally don't agree with the war but I respect the man and what he does and goes through every day. He's just giving his opinion on how real life is not a hollywood film. Forget U!

#8 Dramatic license is great, don’t get me wrong, if your going to spend millions of dollars on a major movie do it right, , there is a manual for everything in the military and it is available for the public to view, just Google it. The problem right now is that the military advisors that Hollywood has for these films are from the "old military" and are more concerned about the "boot camps" that they put these actors in. The single best thing someone can watch about the true day to day life and struggle of military personal is "Generation Kill” that series nailed on the head. #10 Thank you.

Jay on Apr 15, 2009

meh.........looks good but, i don't think it looks "extraordinary" as alex suggests.

dan on Apr 15, 2009

Jay - did you see Generation Kill? If so, in your experience, how did that fair in terms of accuracy? Just curious.

cre2done on Apr 15, 2009

oops, you beat me to that question by a few seconds... thanks.

cre2done on Apr 15, 2009

Looks great. Each trailer you post, it gets better!

Nick Sears on Apr 15, 2009

Looks good. love the main actor. But honestly Jay, these aren't documentaries. I know I'm not going to watch them as that. But I'll probably be over there in less than year. Depends on what the big man decides to do.

#16-Good luck, Stay safe. And when you get back look me up, and we can start a new Military consulting firm for Hollywood.

Jay on Apr 15, 2009

I saw this movie..I enjoyed it...reminded me of generation Kill

Trey on Apr 15, 2009

i saw it a few weeks ago on bluray and liked it a lot. strangely this film is already available on dvd and bluray here in italy, but not out yet in the USA.

virgil on Apr 15, 2009

Generation Kill was the HBO series right? I remember hearing it was good but not much more then that, I'll have to add the bluray to my Netflix Queue

Richard on Apr 15, 2009

This trailer makes the old one looks like extreme shitness.

Fisherr on Apr 15, 2009

I am gonna watch this movie ASAP.

Fisherr on Apr 15, 2009

You know, I always had this crazy thought that one day or another, there'd be someone who'd create a show or movie about a 'Dr. House' type character who goes around disarming explosives. Didn't expect it to happen so soon though. lol ^^

LW on Apr 15, 2009

I saw this movie a few weeks ago at Philadelphia Film Festival and it totally blew me away. It was one of my favorites and it really has a mainstream quality if marketed right. It has little to do with the war, but more to do with the unit and thier bonds. It is a good thriller and won't pound you with pro- or con- Iraq war messages either. A must see.

Ryan on Apr 15, 2009

sure its not accurate. sure its a bit theatrical. sure some of its unrealistic. but you know what? its a goddamn MOVIE. and a FANTASTIC one at that. great, great acting. thoroughly intriguing actors. oh and did i mention the tension wrapped around the whole thing? simply fantastic.

I'm in

Dan W on Apr 15, 2009

Not much of an action film. Every scene involving action is with a bomb going off. I thought that this might have been similar to Black Hawk Down which was a kick ass military film.

Bizzaro on Apr 15, 2009

Seems like Jarhead but not as dense. lol

Hey Ya on Apr 15, 2009

Weird...i saw this film a few months ago. Its terrible. Totally innacurate and to call it an 'action' movie is a joke. The plot and direction was in no way fluid and at times completely confusing with several wtf moments. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY FOLKS, seriously, your not missing anything at all.

Adrian on Apr 15, 2009

I watched this movie like 3 months ago no lie and loved it

Mark on Apr 15, 2009

I don't want his job.

Brandon on Apr 15, 2009

This isn't really an action film at all. It's got some suspenseful stuff in it, and I thought it was above-average, but it's not "action". It's more like suspense / drama. I was actually sorta let down by it. It was described to me as this super-intense film, but it really fails to build the suspense properly. It IS intense in a few parts, but other times it sorta falls flat. And there's a tone to a few parts of the movie that bothered me a lot. I'd like to us get out of Iraq soon, but a few characters - none of the main characters, but some of the side characters - are portrayed in a very negative way... like Nazis or something. If you've seen it you probably know one character specifically that I'm talking about. Anyway, it was a decent enough film, but don't go into it expecting wall to wall action. It's simply not an action movie, and it makes me wonder why it would be described that way. There's about 15 minutes of 'action' in it, and the rest of the movie is character study and suspense/drama. It's good, and the main characters are all solid and interesting to watch, so if you get a chance and want to see something that's really interesting and has some really cool moments, check it out. I can't comment much on the accuracy of it, but I did find a couple of parts of it to be illogical (like the characters were really not playing things by the book at all in some parts). The part that jay mentions about clearing rooms... it's not just that so few did it, but it doesn't seem like that would even be handled by the people who did it. I know WHY they'd do it like that... to build suspense and give the characters more than just bomb scenes - but it bothered me as well, and I've never even been in the military. It IS just a movie, tho, so I let it slide. The theme of the movie is good enough overall to allow it some slack in the accuracy department.

This looks badass!

T9000 on Apr 16, 2009

Totally awesome trailer. It's like bomb squad extreme or something. Hope it's not like SWAT though. Some real-world accuracy would make this movie all the more interesting.

David on Apr 16, 2009

Looks pretty good. Anthony Mackie is a very under used underrated actor. Hope Jeremy Renner's star begins to rise.

skywarp on Apr 17, 2009

Umm... anyone recall the last war/suspense movie that was completely accurate on everything? Anyone...? No? Okay, yeah... it's called Hollywood, folks. I'm definitely going to see it. And I'm pretty sure it's gonna be awesome.
