Must Watch: Official Trailer for Charlyne Yi's Paper Heart

Overture Films, who actually just bought this film a few weeks ago, has debuted the trailer for Paper Heart, the faux-documentary starring Michael Cera and Charlyne Yi that debuted at Sundance this year. For a bit of clarification - this is not a real documentary and it was actually scripted, however, as far as I know, Cera and Yi are dating in real life. I know this is an indie film and they've got to sell it to audiences, but some of the best parts are ruined in this trailer. If you know you already want to see this, then I suggest you skip the trailer, and just go anyway. But if you're unsure, then maybe you should check it out.
I actually really enjoyed this a lot more than I was expecting to when I saw it at Sundance (read my review), and would definitely suggest it to anyone who is even mildly interested from this trailer or otherwise.

Charlyne Yi does not believe in love. Or so she says. Well, at the very least, she doesn’t believe in fairy-tale love or the Hollywood mythology of love, and her own experiences have turned her into yet another modern-day skeptic. Paper Heart follows Charlyne as she embarks on a quest across America to make a documentary about the one subject she doesn’t fully understand.
Paper Heart is directed by first-time filmmaker Nicholas Jasenovec. The screenplay was co-written by Jasenovec and Charlyne Yi, a stand up comedian who you may recognize from her cameos in Knocked Up or Semi-Pro. This debuted at the Sundance Film Festival this year and won the Waldo Scott Screenwriting Award. Overture Films is bringing Paper Heart to limited theaters starting on August 7th this year.

Saw this film at Sundance this year and HATED it. Charlyne Yi is not funny and her awkward style of humor becomes dull within the first 10 minutes of the film. The inclusion of Michael Cera is just a way to draw a larger audience to the film. This is neither witty, nor charming; rather, it is a self indulgent faux-documentary by Yi and Co. that wants to be cute and funny but lacks the necessary charm. My advice: skip it ENTIRELY!

Am I the only one tired of seeing these same few actors used in every other comedy?

at #8- I am with you!! I can't stand Michael Cera...he's overated and just not funny!! He need to go away for a few years and take some more challening roles and eat something!! he's not the funny skinny kid at all..not even in superbad.. the only thing i have liked him in was Arrested Development! But since then he has played the same character in everything he does and it gets boring!!!

"Going to Applebees and getting hot wings!" Ahhh, is there any greater date than that? I approve this movie...

I love this group of actors, but I have never really been a fan of Yi. I actually just watched knocked up last night for the hell of it and it is a great example of why she isn't funny. She just seems out of place the entire time, which I think is the point, but ultimately fails.

I agree with captain subtext. I think this film looks great. Are any of the actor's fantastic? Oscar Worthy? No, but they do bring a heart and something fun to a film that's purely for entertainment purposes. Give it a chance! You might actually end up finding something amazing in something simple. I'll be seeing this..

I'm sorry but I really just don't like Yi, shes too awkward, and not awkwardly cute or funny but awkward annoying. Had they replaced her I think I may be looking forward to this a litle more.

I watched the trailer, and now I wanna hear #5's fart. Couldn't be any worse, and according to him, it was more entertaining. I'm gonna go ahead and take his word on that... still would've liked to hear it though.

holy shit, this looks terrible. I think I'm starting to get sick of michael cera and his awkward-style comedy. Being socially inept like that is just not funny anymore. I have tons of friends who are the biggest nerds or geeks or whatever (although nowadays that is almost a compliment, and most people are "nerdy" in some way) and NO ONE I KNOW ACTS LIKE THIS. It is just being weird and awkward, and I get sick of that, in real life no one would have anything to do with this person, lol.

The movie is horrible. Not funny at all, just annoying. Turned it off after 20 minutes of watching because I was scared I was gonna shoot myself.

I hate hate hate this movie. No idea why it is categorized as a comedy. Totally waste of my $1 at redbox and a wonderful night. Charlyne Yi is the least charming movie character I've ever seen.

Charlyne's laugh makes me want to cry. I don't think I've ever been so annoyed by an actor/actress.
