Must Watch: Official Trailer for Prachya Pinkaew's Chocolate

As a small deviation from all of our Sundance coverage and because today is a holiday, I thought I'd feature the new trailer for Prachya Pinkaew's Chocolate. Pinkaew is a Thai filmmaker who previously brought us Ong Bak with Tony Jaa. This is his latest film, about an autistic girl who turns out to be a badass martial artist. It's been playing at film festivals for a while and we've written about it numerous times, so it's great to finally see an official trailer for it from IGN. It's finally hitting theaters in February so this is the last straw. Check it out and if you think it looks good, be sure to catch it in theaters in a few weeks.
Watch the official trailer for Chocolate:
Chocolate is directed by Thai filmmaker Prachya Pinkaew, of Tony Jaa's Ong Bak and The Protector previously. The screenplay was written by Chukiat Sakveerakul (13 Beloved, Body #19) and Nepalee Sakweerakul. The film stars martial arts newcomer Nicharee "Jeeja" Vismistananda. Chocolate first opened in theaters in Thailand this February and played at the Toronto Film Festival and Fantastic Fest this year as well. Magnet Releasing will debut Chocolate in limited theaters starting on February 6th, 2009.

This looks like an interesting film to see. Even though it probably wont be the best film ever. Its seems like something cool to look at especially since the girl in the movie looks like such a badass. Hopefully i get to see it in my area. If not, somehow get it on DVD. i hope people would recognize this film and the actress for its martial arts scene.

ok, as a father of an autistic child I really feel I should be offended by that tag line...but it was funny. "A Special needs girl, with a special need… to kick some ass!" It so movie cliche!! but the movie looks like it could be fun..I will check it out.

Seen it as well. Had some of the most amazing fight sequences I've seen in a long time, so I'll definitely be watching this again in theaters.

I was gonna catch this during Asian Film Festival in San Diego, but I missed it. I would definitely check it out if it gets released in U.S.

Looks Fantastic! However I don't get the horrible overbearing music in this trailer (thankfully it is absent in the Thai trailer) I would much rather hear skulls cracking!

Definitely a promising trailer. I especially like that the girl is quoting a Bruce Lee movement at 01:11. If the movie is as good as Ong-Bak, I am more than satisfied. "No wires, no stunt doubles." Wow! This movie is actually out on DVD here in Germany already. It has been in the video stores since October 2008, and I just ordered it from Amazon.de. Hope it'll be here tomorrow, can't wait to watch it!
