Inception Trailer

Warner Bros has finally put out the second teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's Inception in glorious high definition (via Apple). This already hit theaters last Friday in front of Sherlock Holmes, so a few of you might've already seen it. And it's essentially the same version as the French trailer we ran last week as well. The more I see from Inception, the more excited I get, and I'm already pretty pumped. Chris Nolan seems to be giving us more and more of the story in each new trailers, but I still don't know what it's about besides the idea of going into someone's dreams. Next to Tron Legacy, this is my most anticipated movie of 2010.

A thriller set within the architecture of the mind about a CEO who is involved in a blackmailing scandal.

Inception is both written and directed by acclaimed Oscar nominated British filmmaker Christopher Nolan, of Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Prestige, and The Dark Knight. Nolan previously wrote the scripts for Memento, Batman Begins, The Prestige, and The Dark Knight with his brother Jonathan Nolan. Warner Brothers is bringing Inception to theaters everywhere starting on July 16th, 2010 next summer.

Christopher Nolan is one of the few working filmmakers left who dares to rise, above the mediocrity, of everything else that Hollywood pumps out. He has earned a place, in the conversation, about great directors, alongside Spielberg, Scorsese, Ridley Scott and Peter Weir etc... He shames mainstream hacks like McG, Michael Bay and Paul W.S. Anderson who consistently shoot, for the lowest common denominator and miss the mark, on a regular basis. If it were not for the current crop of directors like Nolan, Peter Jackson, Quentin Tarantino or even Danny Boyle, Martin Campbell and Jon Favreau, I wouldn't have any reason to venture out to a cinema. 'Inception' has a place, on my calendar, for next summer already.

This trailer looks AWESOME! I have no doubt it will be an amazing movie. Just the fact it was directed by Nolan pretty much guarantees it'll be a masterpiece. I only have one question - um... what's it about? Is it sort of like the Matrix...?

is it weird that this reminds me of Brazil and Blade Runner? Not a bad thing at all, this Trailer is perfect, giving us a glimpse of the film but leaving us in the dark at the same time.

Looks v. good. Hope they keep the plot under wraps until release date - will lead to a similar 'wow factor' to when I saw The Matrix - had never heard of it and 'stumbled' upon it when it was released.

so glad this trailer gave away virtually NOTHING in it, as opposed to every other freakin' trailer that comes out today that gives every story point away i love movies whose trailers captivate me enough to MAKE me go see them, without actually giving me an idea of what i am getting into

Josh on Dec 28, 2009

32

#30 i agree with you... altho he did make (bad-ass as they may be) Batman films, based on pre-existing material. however, i agree with everything you said - he is pure beauty in film, and has actual talent - as opposed to talent pulled from someone else's work

It looks pretty friggin' intense and I like Leo's acting. I wonder if he dies at the end. He does that quite often. As a director Nolan always delivers (Insomnia sucked but it wasn't his fault) and I think I'll really like this.

arjones on Dec 29, 2009

52

Insomnia was a good movie. This looks amazing. I can't stand trailers that give away EVERYTHING in the movie. This is my most anticipated of 2010.

BookWorm on Dec 29, 2009

53

Okay this looks fucking incredible. Anyone else notice the similar shots in this film as Dark Knight? Leo on building at night close-up- batman on building at night close-up Leo going through the back of a kitchen- joker walking through the back of the kitchen Train smashing through the city- 18-wheeler smashing through the gotham city Not complaining, as those things are all badass shots. Maybe its just because it is the same cinematographer, thoughts? Or am I alone in this... Can't wait to watch this in IMAX

james on Dec 29, 2009

54

Well, those moments are all similar, so shooting them is probably going to be similar. Whatever DP they used for both films, Nolan doesn't really come off as the sort of director that will use too many 'fancy' shots. It's one of the reasons I like his work so much. There's very few instances in his films where the camera is doing all the crazy fly-around goofy shit that most film makers today do. He doesn't use slow-motion much, either, which I also love. He tends to shoot in a very matter-of-fact style without all the worthless 'style' shots, and that aspect of his films are going to ensure that future generations will be able to enjoy them as much as ours does. And I, too, liked Insomnia. Nolan just knows how to write and pace a story. Pacing is so important, and he is one of the few modern directors who seems to pay any attention to it.

Squiggly_P on Dec 29, 2009

55

I had no idea Ellen Page was in this! That adds to the allure. And if I'm not mistaken, didn't I see Joseph Gordon Levitt in there? What a cast! Stellar director. This is gonna be good.

Scotty97 on Dec 29, 2009

56

BAD ass teaser. I think Nolan is going to cast Joseph Gordon Levitt as Joker in BATMAN-3!!!!!

Fearl3ss on Dec 29, 2009

57

@59 HOLY SH!T that would be awesome! He might be the only actor who could step into the role and not try to just recreate Heath Ledger's performance. That would be brilliant!

Scotty97 on Dec 29, 2009

58

one of the greatest teasers in recent memory, looks unbelievable, outstanding visuals, yes!!!!, july could not come quicker

Jake Sully on Dec 29, 2009

59

Ellen Page is great, it just add more to this film. But i hope this falls in the same line as Memento in terms of confusing the viewer and making them think. I seriously cant wait for the film. #59: Haha, any movie with Joesph Gordon Levitt is one worth watching, and idc if hes even batman, hes just great in every role.

Nikhil H on Dec 29, 2009

60

#54 how u can say insomnia sucked i have no idea. the film was probably the last good film that pacino made and probably 2nd best nolan film after memento.

dude no offense to leo, great actor, but he sounds like he's 5 years old in this trailer... i was more pumped by the french trailer than this one simply because the french guy doing the voice over for leo sounded more like a man lol..

64

Need to grow up if you think he sounds like a child which he doesnt, and if you let that get in the way of an experience than your opinion means nothing. One of the best actors of our generation hands down. Anyone realize Nolans only semi good film wasnt written by him....now that shows something. The only reason this looks like TDk is cause of the cinematography which is pure win. Im also going to make a prediction JGL as the Riddler in Batman 3. You heard it here first.

Cody on Dec 30, 2009

65

Nolan as Director is an enough ticket to watch the movie, looks like one of a kind.

Fisherr on Dec 30, 2009

66

Cody I agree with you, but can we go from Ledgers maniacal Joker to The Riddler that soon? JGL is a top actor hands down, and he could do the Riddler no doubt, but to me The Riddler is somewhat similar to The Joker, but I trust Nolan and he'll do what's best. I'm more concerned for Inception, as of right now and Batman 3 is a long way's off, so if indeed he picks JGL for The Riddler it gives them time to create the character, so longs as JGL dosen't lock himslef in a hotel room for a month reading diaries of sociopath's.

Xerxex on Dec 30, 2009

I know what you mean, but knowing Nolan he will go a totally different direction with the character that we have seen in the past. Hell, when I first saw that first joker poster I didnt really know what to think of it and look what happened. But it is a LONG way off and we have this to saturate our Nolan thirst.
