Public Enemies Second Trailer

It was only a month ago that we debuted the first trailer for Michael Mann's Public Enemies starring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. However, today we finally have the second trailer, which is a vast improvement over that first one, especially in terms of the visuals. The only problem is that because it comes from MSN, it's a bit low quality, but I think you'll manage to look past that, for the time being. This new trailer is lot less shiny, and a lot more grimy, and a lot more thrilling, which is exactly what I'm looking for with Public Enemies. I wasn't completely sold last time, but this trailer makes it looks just fantastic.

Sorry for the low quality version, we'll get a better one up as soon as possible.

Public Enemies is directed by Michael Mann, of Heat, Ali, Collateral, and Miami Vice previously. The screenplay is based on Bryan Burrough's book of the same name and was adapted by Ronan Bennett (A Further Gesture). Later, Michael Mann and Ann Biderman (Copycat, Primal Fear) wrote a revised screenplay before shooting. The film has an all star cast made up of Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Channing Tatum, Giovanni Ribisi, David Wenham, Leelee Sobieski, Marion Cotillard, and Billy Crudup as J. Edgar Hoover. Universal is bringing Public Enemies to theaters everywhere on July 1st this summer.

Looks fanastic, my most anticipated film of the year, Im a huge Michael Mann film and this definitly looks like it will make up for Miami Vice.

Derek on Apr 9, 2009

Looks like the Untouchables and generally any movie based in that time frame. Nothing bad but it doesn't look outstandingly great.

Hey Ya on Apr 9, 2009

This looks way better than that first trailer. Now... im more interested in it.

LC on Apr 9, 2009

jh on Apr 9, 2009

Bill Rusnak on Apr 9, 2009

Looks Great, and I will watch it but does no one have a problem with the phrase "Golden Age of CRIME"

Barry on Apr 9, 2009

I can dig the HD but not in period films. Looks like Wendy & Lucy with gats.

This trailer is an improvement on the last, which was already pretty awesome. Christian Bale's starting to crack me up, though. See: and the original at: to see why.

Nataly on Apr 9, 2009

Peter on Apr 9, 2009

the trailer looks good johnny deep will be rocking in this movie by the way Alex Billington i saw you on collider video blog hope that you would also start your video blog too bro

joe on Apr 9, 2009

The first trailer was much better. We see more in this one, but i didnt like it so much. Johnny Depp seems fantastic, but the rest does not look so good. Why does Mann film on HD? That ruins everything man!

Jack on Apr 9, 2009

# 15 The movie at the beginning is Calexico,"Black Heart." I recommend buying the whole album as it's their best and that's saying quite a lot. However, I don't think the hand-held style will work for a period piece like this, so although this is better I don't think the movie will be good. At all.

Timothy on Apr 9, 2009

# 15 The music at the beginning is Calexico's "Black Heart" off their album Feast of Wire. Buy it.

Timothy on Apr 9, 2009

looks like a fan made film

Rob on Apr 9, 2009

Even though the movie is going to be awesome, these trailers seem to be quite meh. Both of them seem to frantic and show way too much footage for us to look at and comprehend whats happening. It may seem as if im one of the few that felt these trailer were poorly edited.

Nikhil Hariharan on Apr 9, 2009

Michael Mann is going to do it again with this fantastic film. I am extremely excited!

Movieraider321 on Apr 9, 2009

Rob, you're an idiot.

David Alan Grier on Apr 9, 2009

the music is by terence blanchard from spike lee's 25th hour

penfold on Apr 9, 2009

This looks just awful. As if it was shot with a cheap video camera. Down with HD that looks that way!!!

guyyl on Apr 9, 2009

Cool Ford Tri-motor. Wonder if its the same one that showed up in Indy-Temple of Doom. There only less-than-10 of those that are flyable (ie not stuck in a museum) nowadays...

DieHard Indy Fan on Apr 9, 2009

Wtf are you guys talking about it looked just fine and no this isnt the fucking untouchables just cause its the 30s. God I hate people...but this looks sweet

Cody on Apr 9, 2009

How the hell can anyone complain that Mann films in HD? Strangest complaint i've ever heard. Damn, you people are weird.

Ian on Apr 9, 2009

hey number 3... ur a huge michael mann film? cool

sorr on Apr 9, 2009

#27 Uhh, because it is damn ugly in a movie set in the 30's? Use ''normal'' film, like Tarantino did for Inglourious Basterds. So much better, this looks just terrible.

Jack on Apr 9, 2009

After seeing Warren Oats playing John Dillinger...still not convinced that Johnny was the best choice, acting chops or not....Gary Oldman maybe?

Tedious Ted on Apr 9, 2009

This is amazing! Why are people complaining on which trailer is better? They are both from the same movie. Oh, and stop whining about the HD -- I'm glad Mann is doing something different when it comes to period pieces. and.. #30, too late Depp is Dillinger, so stay home and watch the 73' Dillinger movie and the 5th Element.

missy on Apr 9, 2009

#25, the movie was shot up here in Wisconsin, and all the cars wear donated by local collectors.

nate on Apr 9, 2009

the other song from the first trailer is ten million slaves by otis taylor kindve unsure on which one i prefer, would probably have to say the first trailer but they both get me excited for this

harrison on Apr 9, 2009

Nice, loving every inch of it!

Xerxex on Apr 9, 2009

35 the music

Nataly on Apr 10, 2009

Can't wait to see more....

Ilse on Apr 10, 2009

digital.... NOOOOO

rocken on Apr 10, 2009

I'm with rocken, wtf with the digital??? I thought Mann was through with that shitty format and was finally returning to using film with this one. Looks so utterly crappy, no matter how good the subject matter is.

normf on Apr 10, 2009

Oh my gosh. I can't wait!! It made me smile when Johnny said "Woooo!" 😀

Lowwen on Apr 10, 2009

Doesn't look bad, hope Mann keeps his style here.

cine_phil on Apr 10, 2009

first trailer was better than this one, but both trailers were so-so, the film will be good im sure. Not sure why they used that 25th Hour music towards the end of the trailer. The movie trailer is an art form unto itself, and neither one cut it for me. I agree with other people complaining about HD, its a period piece! of course it matters, it takes away from it.

movie buff on Apr 10, 2009

Looks alot better than the first trailer.A little more grimy indeed.

Fisherr on Apr 10, 2009

Looks like a poor choice to give up wealth, fame, and freedom for a single decent-looking woman. I mean if a bank-robber wants to look for love, why won't he just go overseas or something?

9001 on Apr 11, 2009

I can't believe that Christian Bale got second billing in this film. You see only just a small part of him in the trailer. Don't get me wrong I think Depp is amazing actor, but the whole trailer was about him and nothing else.

Kal-el on Apr 12, 2009

This new trailer sold me on it. Like you said Alex the first one I wasn't feeling but this one got me

Dan W on Apr 12, 2009

one of the best movies of the year.Don't doubt that.
