Must Watch: Second Fantastic Trailer for Public Enemies!

It was only a month ago that we debuted the first trailer for Michael Mann's Public Enemies starring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. However, today we finally have the second trailer, which is a vast improvement over that first one, especially in terms of the visuals. The only problem is that because it comes from MSN, it's a bit low quality, but I think you'll manage to look past that, for the time being. This new trailer is lot less shiny, and a lot more grimy, and a lot more thrilling, which is exactly what I'm looking for with Public Enemies. I wasn't completely sold last time, but this trailer makes it looks just fantastic.
Watch the second trailer for Public Enemies:
Sorry for the low quality version, we'll get a better one up as soon as possible.
Public Enemies is directed by Michael Mann, of Heat, Ali, Collateral, and Miami Vice previously. The screenplay is based on Bryan Burrough's book of the same name and was adapted by Ronan Bennett (A Further Gesture). Later, Michael Mann and Ann Biderman (Copycat, Primal Fear) wrote a revised screenplay before shooting. The film has an all star cast made up of Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Channing Tatum, Giovanni Ribisi, David Wenham, Leelee Sobieski, Marion Cotillard, and Billy Crudup as J. Edgar Hoover. Universal is bringing Public Enemies to theaters everywhere on July 1st this summer.

Looks like the Untouchables and generally any movie based in that time frame. Nothing bad but it doesn't look outstandingly great.

This trailer is an improvement on the last, which was already pretty awesome. Christian Bale's starting to crack me up, though. See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjBOTT0tr84 and the original at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2yv8aT0UFc to see why.

The first trailer was much better. We see more in this one, but i didnt like it so much. Johnny Depp seems fantastic, but the rest does not look so good. Why does Mann film on HD? That ruins everything man!

# 15 The movie at the beginning is Calexico,"Black Heart." I recommend buying the whole album as it's their best and that's saying quite a lot. However, I don't think the hand-held style will work for a period piece like this, so although this is better I don't think the movie will be good. At all.

# 15 The music at the beginning is Calexico's "Black Heart" off their album Feast of Wire. Buy it.

Even though the movie is going to be awesome, these trailers seem to be quite meh. Both of them seem to frantic and show way too much footage for us to look at and comprehend whats happening. It may seem as if im one of the few that felt these trailer were poorly edited.

This looks just awful. As if it was shot with a cheap video camera. Down with HD that looks that way!!!

Cool Ford Tri-motor. Wonder if its the same one that showed up in Indy-Temple of Doom. There only less-than-10 of those that are flyable (ie not stuck in a museum) nowadays...

How the hell can anyone complain that Mann films in HD? Strangest complaint i've ever heard. Damn, you people are weird.

#27 Uhh, because it is damn ugly in a movie set in the 30's? Use ''normal'' film, like Tarantino did for Inglourious Basterds. So much better, this looks just terrible.

After seeing Warren Oats playing John Dillinger...still not convinced that Johnny was the best choice, acting chops or not....Gary Oldman maybe?

This is amazing! Why are people complaining on which trailer is better? They are both from the same movie. Oh, and stop whining about the HD -- I'm glad Mann is doing something different when it comes to period pieces. and.. #30, too late Depp is Dillinger, so stay home and watch the 73' Dillinger movie and the 5th Element.

#25, the movie was shot up here in Wisconsin, and all the cars wear donated by local collectors.

I'm with rocken, wtf with the digital??? I thought Mann was through with that shitty format and was finally returning to using film with this one. Looks so utterly crappy, no matter how good the subject matter is.

first trailer was better than this one, but both trailers were so-so, the film will be good im sure. Not sure why they used that 25th Hour music towards the end of the trailer. The movie trailer is an art form unto itself, and neither one cut it for me. I agree with other people complaining about HD, its a period piece! of course it matters, it takes away from it.

Looks alot better than the first trailer.A little more grimy indeed.

Looks like a poor choice to give up wealth, fame, and freedom for a single decent-looking woman. I mean if a bank-robber wants to look for love, why won't he just go overseas or something?

I can't believe that Christian Bale got second billing in this film. You see only just a small part of him in the trailer. Don't get me wrong I think Depp is amazing actor, but the whole trailer was about him and nothing else.
