Must Watch: Second Trailer for Joe Johnston's The Wolfman!

Just in time for Halloween, Universal has debuted a second new trailer for Joe Johnston's The Wolfman on Apple. This trailer is considerably different from the first trailer from July, featuring less dialogue, one contemporary rock song running throughout, and a focus more on the monster and the intensity (and less on the story). I just really hope this is going to be rated R in the end, because after watching this trailer, I want as intense of a frickin' Wolfman movie as I can get. Considering I've loved just about every movie that Hugo Weaving has been in as well, I expect to love this one, too. Anyway, check out the new trailer below!

Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman, is lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Upon his return and after being reunited with his estranged father, Talbot is bitten and cursed by a werewolf.
The Wolfman is directed by visual effects Oscar winner Joe Johnston, of Honey I Shrunk the Kids, The Rocketeer, Jumanji, October Sky, Jurassic Park III, and Hidalgo previously. The screenplay was co-written by Andrew Kevin Walker (Se7en, 8MM, Sleepy Hollow) and David Self (The Haunting, Thirteen Days, Road to Perdition). Universal will be bringing The Wolfman to theaters on February 12th, 2010 early next year.

At the very end of that clip at around 1:20 - 1:22 is a sound effect that sounds like it's straight out of World of Warcraft. It sounded so much like it that I minimized the movie to turn my WoW sound down so I could enjoy the clip properly. Then I was like, "Whoa, that was in the movie." Any one else here that? Anyway, I agree with CLZ. That was a way better trailer. Here's hoping they don't screw it up like Van Helsing and make it a campy mess.

Even though I usually don't like the mix of historical looks with modern music (the film takes place two centuries ago but the music in the trailer is of modern times), I like it, though I liked the first trailer even more. I am so excited about it. And I hope 12th of February is a full-moon, or they have the premiere under a full-moon. That would be amazing.

i'm not sure. It's a wolfman movie, how different could be from other's? Althought the rock sound and the trailer intensity made this a "Must Watch".

Miles better than the 1st trailer, this second trailer has an awesome vibe! can't wait..... @6 no offence, but maybe you should spend less time on world of Warcraft 😉

Wow. Wish I didn't like this trailer better than the first one (which was obviously the more story-oriented) but I did. This looks great. And I pray Johnston takes the cinematographer with him to Captain America.

@ myself Just checked imdb, same cinematographer for Cap. I hope he goes for a similar tone.

#6... you need to leave your computer and go outside, it'll change your life. If you're under 16, you get a slap on the hand... if you're over 16, you have a serious problem and it's only going to get worse. Trailer looked cool.

I really cant wait to see this....shame it isnt out this Halloween! I certainly prefer the studios to remake the old classics such as The Wolfman or Frankenstein...rather than the horror movies of the 80's...

The song from the trailer as well as the music for the film was all done by Danny Elfman. The mans a genius. One up.

Okay, between this & Sherlock Holmes, I'm THIS much closer to considering becoming a Steampunk. That wardrobe just looks way too cool. And this movie (save the L.A. industrial rock soundtrack) looks like it's gonna blow us all away.

Whoa. I just read that the EFX director of this film is slated to direct the Captain America movie for 2011. This could get pretty interesting ... the next to take the throne of Stan Winston, anyone?
Django on Oct 21, 2009

Before anyone gets too excited about the music, we should all remember that trailers often feature music that isn't heard in the film itself. The two trailers for the Wolfman are courting two different audience segments: the first went after the classic horror crowd while this one courts the younger MTV/steampunk demographic. It's entirely possible a third clip highlighting the film's romantic subplot and aimed at female audiences will debut before the film itself is released. I hope not, but I've seen it happen before. 😉 As for this trailer, it's a bit over the top, but loads of fun. Even if it pretty much gives away who the film's real villain is.

Yeap it does look pretty decent! Will look out for this, it almost has an old Dracula horror vibe to it in that trailer, with the stuff that Hopkins is saying, but with modern effects, good combo.

Let's not make a big deal out of the "off topic comments" there's a lot of air in it! When you see the wolfhand transformation in the trailer my girlfriend made the "oh gross" sound, thats exactly the reaction you should get from such a movie!

Looks amazing! no#6 I think might be the same sound as in WoW. I heared the exact same 'roar' in Star Trek VI yesterday. Its stock-sound, like stockfottage. Pretty sure all who have seen a trailer or movie with someone falling down the building has heared that same scream in dozens of trailers(mainly) and some movies. Often trailers get added soundeffects, and they have not been altered from the stock. And sometimes, I guess just lazyness, you hear those familiar, unaltered from the stock, sounds in movies and VG's. no#12 and 26, get yr rotation right, your slacking

When you mentioned a rock song I was hoping for "Werewolves of London" by the late Warren Zevon... Nevertheless, it's great to see Anthony Hopkins & Hugo Weaving back in the act.

Looks pretty sweet. Del Toro needed to make up for the heaping pile of crap that was Che. Ten bucks says Hugo Weaving takes the movie spotlight - and rightly so

No that song isn't done by Danny Elfman, the guy that did the Watchmen soundtrack did it.He also did The Tales of the Black Freighter soundtrack too.The song is on that trailer first.

Pretty sure it's England. Any confirmation? I mean, it takes place in England - and it'd be a waste to make every shot of London or the English countryside an EFX shot, am I right? hahaha

@32 I think the proper term you're looking for is Neo-Victorian. Although the steampunk genre, utilizes this style, it's a class in itself.
