Nachmanoff Directing Fox in Adaptation of Oni's Billy Smoke
by Alex Billington

Warner Brothers has announced that they are developing an adaptation of a forthcoming comic book series called Billy Smoke being published by Oni Press (the same company who put out Scott Pilgrim). The comics, written by B. Clay Moore and illustrated by Eric Kim, are about an elite hit man who is nearly killed during a botched job. He realizes that his only way to find redemption is to rid the world of all assassins. The adaptation will be directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff, who last directed the thriller Traitor last year. Set to star as the assassin is Matthew Fox. No word yet on when this will go into production at Warner Brothers.
It looks as if Fox has been involved in this from the very start, helping promote the comic since it was first announced last year. You can check out a glimpse at the cover art on the Oni Press forums and read about some more details over there. I did eventually see Nachmanoff's Traitor last year and thought it was good, but not great, though I'll say I think he could eventually become a great director. I'm much more excited to see Matthew Fox take on a lead role. He's an exceptional actor and I loved seeing him in Speed Racer last year. Even though we've seen plenty of assassin movies, I'm more than happy to have him leading this one.

Matthew Fox? I think Seth Rogen pretty much sums Matthew Fox up in "Knocked Up." Dude should go back to doing bitch shows like "Party of five."

Fox seems like the type to portray this character. Question: Have assassin movies been done too many times?

No #2 in fact I dont think theyve been done right, Yeah there have been lots but not once have I ever seen a movie that just portrays an assassin as a pure badass just lighting up a room full of guys gore and blood and all and just walk out. Dont get me wrong there have been lots of movies like that but I just think there so much potential in assassin characters that they havent even tapped yet. Especially when it comes down to just good ole fashion rambo style bloody action. But I am an action movie enthusiast soooo... Matthew Fox could be a badass specially if they give this an R...btw #1 fuck anything that is related to/comes out of seth rogens mouth dont care how funny the guy is he makes millions and millions by playing the same fucking character in every goddamn movie and Im just sick of seeing his face. P.S. if there is an assassin movie that fits my description please yell it out AND NOT THE PROFESSIONAL.

@ 3 Cody probably will never happen. Unless you yourself write a script based on a balls to wall assassin then we will get a true assassin movie but as for right now it seems that most assassin flicks focus on them connecting with the better side of themselves, which isn't bad especially with Grosse Point Blank, but at times we need a cold ruthless assassin, but its a wish that very rarely comes true!

#1 I can't believe how many idiots just go ahead and quote their drooling idol from that movie completely disregarding that the joke is on Seth Rogen's one-note, lifetime character. Right after he makes the completely random Matthew Fox comment, which he makes because he's insecure and just realized the chick he slept with is way out of his league and has a real job where she interacts successful people and not deadbeats like him, she DUMPS HIS ASS. Because she's a grownup and sees what a douche and loser he is by disrespecting her work with his infantile need to belittle some guy who makes lots of moolah and is his polar opposite in every way. If that doesn't say: "I'm a scared manchild!" I don't know what does. And still the morons hee haw at it and quote it.
