No Nick Fury Action Until The Avengers, Says Sam Jackson
Aw, damn! Jon Favreau is currently finishing up the last few weeks of principal photography on Iron Man 2. We expect to see a lot of exciting footage at the San Diego Comic-Con, but I'm certain we won't be seeing any of Samuel Jackson in that footage. MTV talked with Jackson recently and asked him how big his role as Nick Fury is in Iron Man 2. When asked if we get to see him in any action scenes at all, he unfortunately admitted, "Not this time, not yet." Jackson adds, "We still haven't moved Nick Fury into the bad-ass zone. He's still just kind of a talker." So then maybe action in The Avengers? "Looking forward to that, yeah."
Okay, so we know that Nick Fury barely showed up in the first Iron Man at the very end of the credits, and he wasn't even in The Incredible Hulk at all. But Samuel Jackson is signed on for 9 frickin' Marvel movies! And I know this guy kicks some ass in the comics, I've seen him fight. Maybe it's better that they don't rush into it, you know, don't show all your cards at once. Alas, we won't have any Nick Fury action in Iron Man 2, which will just make his action debut in The Avengers all the more sweeter. Though Jackson did confirm that he has scenes with Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson. It looks like S.H.E.I.L.D. is growing.

The "Ultimate" version of Nick Fury is black so it's fine. Getting a big name actor only makes these movies better.
Dean on Jul 1, 2009
Thats because the ultimate version was based off of him....

Too bad.. Ah, who gives a crap, I'm glad he took the part, that's good enough for me =D. I think you mean 'S.H.I.E.L.D.', not 'S.H.E.I.L.D.'

I always thought Kurt Russell would have been a good Nick Fury

My guess is that he will be in the Captain America movie along with Bruce Banner (Hulk) and possibly Black Widow. For all we know, Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff) is the SHIELD representive in Iron Man 2. If they are going to make a replica of the Ultimate movies, they would make a large misstake. Common, who wants to see a movie they've already seen, only this time its live action instead of animation? We know the plot, we know the twists, why would we want to see it? On the subject though, Nick Fury was a white, blond haired and presumably dead general. Obviously they had to make some changes, personally I think Sam L Jackson is great for the role. However in the Ultimate movies he's not really a fighter, he's just the guy who brings everyone together. Personally I'm hoping for SHIELD to grow abit during the next year or two and have them return in Spider-Man, not to recruit him but to play a role and possibly shed some of the history of SHIELD in that movie, as a sidetrack (in the animated series of Spider-Man, Parker and Jameson are kidnapped by SHIELD and Nick explains to Jameson some of his personal history, it's in the Chameleon episode, in the end, Spider-Man uses that knowledge of history to uncover who the Chameleon is).

I don’t know if anyone has been reading comics lately or say that last 10 years or so. But Nick Fury hasn’t been an action hero since Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos. He’s always been the leader of SHIELD and in the comics he talks more than he actually fights. Even the Ultimates version is more about stirring up shit than actually getting his hands dirty, althought the Ultimate version is younger and he does engage in more action than the regular Marvel Universe version.

Slashbeast - have you picked up any of Secret Warriors? It's written by my single favorite new upstart writer, Jonathan Hickman. He makes Fury a rogue agent who works for no-one, uncovering a gigantic conspiracy involving SHIELD, HYDRA, etc. Anyway - it's worthwhile reading. That said, I'm really looking forward to Iron man II, and I think the REAL headline to this article should be: "FIRST PICTURES OF NICK FURY, WHO IS DEFINITELY IN IRON MAN II. " Why do you guys always focus on the negative? Is that supposed to get more attention or something?

I don't mind Fury being black as long as they don't go with the Ultimates story line. @13, I was just thinking I would love to see a movie come out based off the Secret Warriors or even Secret War stories. Also, @11 is not me but some jack ass spammer. WTF, FS.net? Get on this.
