Rumor: Linda Hamilton Returning for More Terminator?
It seems as if the only news worth reporting this week are rumors. Yesterday we had the crazy Two-Face rumor originating from Aaron Eckhart at the Golden Globes. Today we have another rumor regarding Terminator Salvation and McG's upcoming trilogy. While we're all excited to see whether McG has successfully rebooted the Terminator franchise (or not), I think it's best we wait until May to see the movie before we start making guesses about who is or who isn't in it. We're familiar with the on-going Arnold Schwarzenegger rumors, so how about throwing Linda Hamilton into the rumor mill, too?
This rumor comes from ComingSoon, who also attended the special presentation held yesterday in New York City for Terminator Salvation. In their chat with McG afterward, the director said that one option they came up with for the opening of the movie would be to have Sarah Connor do a voiceover. From there, ComingSoon spins it into a rumor with no real facts. We know Linda Hamilton played Sarah Connor in the first two Terminator movies, but that doesn't mean they actually need her to do the voiceover, although I admit it would be cool to hear. Maybe they can convince her to record just a quick voiceover?
As all die-hard Terminator fans know, if they keep progressing into the future, eventually they'll discover time travel in order to address the stories in the first three movies, where the original Arnold T-800 was sent back in time. McG said that "time travel has yet to be explored" but that it would be one of the themes of the next movie after Terminator Salvation. That could mean we'll eventually see the story where Kyle Reese must go back in time to save Sarah Connor and father John Connor. This is getting a bit confusing, but the point is, Linda Hamilton could be someone they're going after. Is this too crazy to be true?

If anything, I wouldn't actually have her in the film, other than a few flashbacks John would have while talking to Kyle Reese about his "Mission". Then you would see him go back, while the story continues on in the future.

I think it would be an appropriate addition to the movie, something to tie it to the first two movies (I think we'd all just rather forget #3). Then again, it would work just as well having John do the opening voiceover, symbolically "taking over" for his mother. Hell, I just hope the movie isn't a steaming pile of drek. Past that I really don't care.

Not having Linda in T2 was a HUGE letdown. So this sounds nice.

"...ComingSoon spins it into a rumor with no real facts." Sound familiar, anyone?

I personaly think anything they can add, that will tie it closer to the first two, rather then the third installment, is a step in the right direction. But I also doubt they'll do it. Oh, well =/

ryderup: "Not having Linda in T2..."? Heck, not only was she in it but so was her twin sister! You might want to watch T2, it's a pretty good movie.

#4 i hope thats a typo as Linda Hamilton potraied sarah connor in T2... infact the picture for this article is taken from T2... linda hamilton was not in T3 when i read this the one let down I got out of it was that this will be a new trilogy... don't know how i missed that before but god damn let the trilogy fad be over in hollywood and lets see some original ideas what I'm hoping they do with these new ones is keep faith to the orginial timeline set within 1, 2 and forget about 3 entirely (not that it wasn't entertaining, but it should have been called What If Terminator)

Why wasn't she in T3? She wasn't dead right? Just not in it?

In T3 John Connor said she died of cancer. I hope she is not in this 1 Would someone please confirm for me what Salvation is ( Prequel, sequel or a reboot ) because i go on different web sites and they always say something different. I really hope its a sequel because im sick of reboots, this all happend because of Batman, and for the record i thought that the Dark Night was a good movie but not a 5 star because i watched it in an non GENERIC way unlike most of the world.

They should skip all the T3 story and get Linda Hamilton back. She's the real star in Terminator. Sarah Connor could appear anywher in the new movie, she's the main character of the series.

TS isn't reboot movie

They could pull an X-3 and "de-age" both her and Reese if they indeed go fwd with the time travel aspect. I hate to say it, but isn't that aspect of Terminator canon the basis of the show right now? It might get too confusing... "Movie says this... Show says that..."

Fuck just if she did a voice over would be so fucking sick and tie it in more. Then dont show Ahhnoldddd till the end of 5 to see how they got his body type when he was the Agent in south america!!!

excuse me but I thought there has already been multiple sequels to the original, which was the best IMO, with the Arnold, Hamilton and Biehn....... I am confused about a trilogy by MGM....... Makes no sense.........
Rosalee on Jan 13, 2009
I agree with Christ. Linda Hamilton is the real star in Terminator. They should get Linda back.

Damn, she looked so ripped back in 1991. I must have seen T2 half a dozen times back then.

Voice over would be fine with Linda in the front seat. If a cameo appearance Np too.
