Rumor: Michael Sheen is the Big Bad Villain in Tron 2?

So yesterday I got a frantic call from Peter at SlashFilm asking me if I had ever heard anything about Michael Sheen being involved in Tron 2. I said no, and he proceeded to tell me about a series of twitter messages coming from Sheen's official twitter account that lead him to believe he could be involved as the villain in Tron 2. You've seen him as the werewolf Lucian in Underworld, you've seen him as David Frost in Frost/Nixon, you've seen him as Tony Blair in The Queen, and we'll see him as The White Rabbit in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland next year; obviously he's a talented actor, so why not cast him in Tron?
It all started when Sheen mention he was cast in a "mystery film" that he wasn't allowed to "talk about yet." So what could it be? Well, he says it's not "a real person" and that his character is "in fact not a person at all." Someone later asked if he was going to play "either a great big bad villain or a fictional seventies rock star" and Sheen responded with "oh my goodness you're kind of close." He had said earlier that he's not a person, so could he be a big bad villain in Tron, then? You can read over on SlashFilm about all the other roles that he said this wasn't about (including Alice in Wonderland and The Twilight Saga: New Moon).
I actually really like Michael Sheen (not so much in Underworld though) and I think he's a very talented actor, so he should be a good fit for any role. But then again, I like him best as a political figure (Tony Blair, David Frost) more than big bad werewolves or anything else. I'll reserve further judgment until we know more about his character in Tron, but this is still an interesting casting rumor. What do you think?
I think is an excellent actor and a great choice for the villain on this film. Bring it on Michael 😉

That picture actually looks like it's been taken from a "Flight Of The Conchords" Video.

He does seem better cast as the quiet, Tony Blair/David Frost type. Although, personally both of those movies nearly put me into a deep coma. I didn't see the 3rd Underworld movie so I can't comment on his ability to be a villain. I'm more saddened by the fact that Jeff & Bruce who got along well with Cindy Morgan during TRON aren't sticking up for their old friend and getting her a part in TRON 2.

So, a british actor is going to be a villian in a big action film? Well, that makes a change, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you and peter are jumping to conclusions. I would love to see - well, perhaps not see if he isn't playing a person - Sheen in Tron 2. You're conclusion that he is the bad guy in it could be right, but I don't see much of a reason to believe so.

You can't be a proper villian unless you are a Brit. Of course, you CAN be an improper villian... Physically, Michael Sheen won't be a David Warner type villian. He's not built for it. But he could be a very effective Paul Reiser (ALIENS) type villian. (I'm guessing that) once within the game he could even be a Robert Patrick (T2) type villian. Perhaps, since he won't be a "real person" he'll be a Gollum in the game world?

Sheen rocked in all three Underworld movies, particularly the third where he brought a very gothic Hammer-horror vibe to the whole thing. The man is going to rock my socks if the zaps people up in Tron 2.

Good actor. It could work....I'm ready to see Tron 2 already but I'm sure it's a long way off. Oh well, need to go back and rewatch the first.

I think he is an over-rated actor. His performance in the 3rd installment of Underworld only proved to me what a gigantic ham he is. He was cringe inducing in ROTL.

Rise Of the Lycans. But his hammy performances usually make me laugh.
