Samuel Jackson Signs Nine Movie Deal as Nick Fury!
by Alex Billington
February 25, 2009
Back in January, we ran a rather disappointing article about Samuel Jackson potentially not returning as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Nick Fury in any upcoming Marvel movies. But it looks like that rumor couldn't have been any further from the truth. Jackson has signed one for not one, not two, but a total of nine upcoming movies for Marvel which will contain Nick Fury in some capacity, starting with Iron Man 2 and also including Thor, Captain America, The Avengers, any of their sequels, and even potentially a S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off. This was announced by Marvel today and confirmed by Variety, so it's not just another rumor.
Audiences got their first glimpse of Jackson as Nick Fury at the end of the credits of Iron Man, where he appears inside Tony Stark's house and tells him about a team called the Avengers. In the blink of an eye, Jackson became the face of what is now the most integral character in tying the Marvel universe together. Even though he didn't appear in The Incredible Hulk, we knew he was there lurking in the shadows, and we knew that the Avengers was still being developed in that very same cinematic Marvel universe. Now it's great to finally know that Marvel won't be losing him ever again. Are you excited yet?
Wow 9 movies!!!!!

JS Chan on Feb 25, 2009
Ok I am trying to think Iron Man 2 Thor Captain America The Avengers Those are Def 4 movies that he will be in. SO unless they do a spinoff of Ant Man, Black Widow, and Nick Fury or just do a movie called SHEILD, ummmmm what movies could they all be?
Shawn Keim on Feb 25, 2009
9 movies??? They're gonna make nine of them???? Still, glad to here he is back in the universe.
Ajax on Feb 25, 2009
Just when I thought Sam was in just about every movie I've seen. That Jackson probably sold his soul to be a part of every major franchise! (Ex: Star Wars; Die Hard, XXX, Kill Bill and countless Tarantino projects--he's even narrating Inglorious Basterds)...and now all these Marvel films!
Blue Silver on Feb 25, 2009
It would have been nice to see David Hasselhoff playing Nick Fury. This would have been a major 'plum' gig for the Hoff.
Pickle on Feb 25, 2009
DO THEY SPEAK ENGLISH IN WHAT? ENGLISH MOTHA FUCKAA DO YOU SPEAK IT!! That's all Nick Fury should say in all 9 movies.
Roberto Dinamite on Feb 25, 2009
Damn! He has got to be one rich bastard.

Well, the ULTIMATE AVENGERS Nick Fury was drawn to his likeness. So, its a given that he portrays NF. I'm wondering if he ever appeared in KILL BILL? Some clown above, claim Sam was in it. I don't think he's rich. His fees are low, and he's a quality actor so the studios love working with him. I can't wait for a SHIELD movie. Espionage and hightech gadgetry.
Shawn on Feb 25, 2009
He doesnt sell his soul to be in these movies. He calls and tells them that he is going to be in them... And he is Sam mo'fuckin Jackson, are you gonna tell him no? When Gonzo announced Afro Samurai, he had his agent call them and tell him that he was the only person that was allowed to voice that part... because he is /the/ afro samurai.
Dude on Feb 25, 2009
I just mutha f*cked in my pants a lil...
Daas on Feb 25, 2009
When MARVEL does something, they go all in! Brilliant move in my opinion... They are building a whole empire of movies that will be sure to kill, super excited!

I am NOT FUCKING EXCITED!!! I am so goddamned sick of Samuel L. Jackson these days. He barely holds up any substance. I thought he was a waste in the Star Wars movies, Snakes on a Plane was a bad joke. Although Lakeview Terrace was better than I thought it would be, but that role was proper for him in specific. May I remind everyone, that NICK FURY IS NOT BLACK!!! Why change the race of a popular comic book character in the first place let alone bring on SLJ?! Fuck this news.

recession man will doom the marvel franchise so NO- dont get excited about 9 movies , a sheild flick will just water down the characters even more
bassbin on Feb 25, 2009
sitting watching "No Country for Old Men" and Josh Brolin would make a great Fury.
angry on Feb 25, 2009
He does justice to all of his part - it creates a class of its own. I won't go for the profanity of it, but hell yeah. As for the haters, you always imagine your own character, but if we look at it as SJ does it - its a class act one !*@^#(@)#_$. To #15, he was the black piano player in the wedding ceremony(a total of 5 second screen time - nice). If he is in every Tarantino film, isn't obvious he is the male counterpart to Uma Thurman - QT's muse.
somwerbtwnblungrn on Feb 25, 2009
any moda fuka that bad mouths the god samual l jackson will end up in hell with bad karma plowing through there ass! mace windu is a bad ass! cool powerfull. slj is all that. he is the hip version of yoda.

I'm so used to the Solid Snake~esque Nick Fury. As much as I like Samuel L, all I can say is "miscasted"
L on Feb 26, 2009
8) I imagine the nine movies include potential sequels to the films you mentioned and not new projects. 25) That's being melodramatic. He ruined Iron Man in his tiny post credit cameo? Get a grip. This is fantastic news. Main reason being it'll give some consistency to the films Marvel are producing. I like Sam Jackson, guys a terrific actor. His filmography might have a few turkeys but the guy reminds me of Christopher Walken in that it's obvious he just loves to work. I haven't got a problem with that.
Rob on Feb 26, 2009
Sam is overrated.
esophus on Feb 26, 2009
I think Sam Jackson is the only actor badass enough to sign for 9 movies. Crazy. I'm sure they're going to be moderately small parts.
Nick Sears on Feb 26, 2009
samual l jackson=nick fury+ironman 2+captain america+the mighty thor+avengers=4 films(5 if you include the 1st iron man).what is he going to show up in x-men origins wolverine(with the rest of the marvel universe) or spider-man 4.
zetsu on Feb 26, 2009
Negative on the conformation with Samuel L Jackson.
Xerxex on Feb 26, 2009
EVERY TIME I THINK OF SAMUEL L JACKSON. I THINK OF "I WANT THOSE MOTHER FKN SNAKES OF THE MOTHER FKN PLANE. ALSO ENGLISH MOTHER FKR, DO YOU SPEAK IT? WOULD HAVE PREFERED DAVID HASELHOFF AS NICK FURY. HE LOOKS JUST LIKE HIM, OR CHARLTON HESTON IF HE WAS ALIFE AND YOUNGER. I REMEMBER CHARLTON HESTON IN TRUE LIES WITH THE EYE PATCH AND THE FIRST THING THAT CAME TO MY MIND WAS "THAT'S NICK FURY!!!!!!. HOPEFULLY HE DOES THE CHARACTER JUSTICE.
rick on Feb 26, 2009
that is fuckin' fantastic! I think he might be featured in the next Spider-Man film, perhaps another X-Men spinoff, if not another Wolverine movie altogether. Not sure exactly where they'd stick him after a few films, but I've been waiting a long time to see a giant Marvel teamup with all of the Marvel badasses in Film Form! this should be sweet, can't wait.
Kingbender on Feb 26, 2009
38 & 41 Sam has signed up for 8 movies with Marvel, who do not produce the Spider-Man or X-Men series. You won't be seeing Sam Jackson as Nick Fury in Spider-Man 4 or any upcoming X-Men related project.
Rob on Feb 26, 2009
I meant nine, obviously...
Rob on Feb 26, 2009
Well this is the rather disappointing news :(. I was actually quite happy when I read they were reconsidering. Hopefully this is somehow wrong.
D on Feb 26, 2009
Dude, cool, I guess. 9 movies? Heh hes gonna be one bad-ass cameo motherfucker.
Richard on Feb 26, 2009
If the shoe fits.... I just wish nick was reimagined with a Jheri Curl Wig. Just don't do another punisher.
jmoney on Feb 26, 2009
Whoever said Josh Brolin for 616 Nick Fury is a genius!! I don't have a problem with SLJ playing Fury as the Ultimate version, but if they went with 616 Fury then Brolin would have been the perfect choice. Good call!
Daas on Feb 26, 2009
Wasn't the previous issues they were having due to money? So, you know what I'm thinking? The studios were not counting on Sam taking into account inflation =P LOL
Hand Knotted Rugs on Feb 26, 2009
To #8 Shawn Keim: If you actually read the article, it lists those movies AND says their sequels along with a possible Nick Fury series too
shawn is stupid on Feb 26, 2009
to number #49 Ummm Yea Tard it doesn't mean it would be those. I was trying to get people brainstorming. But God forbid we do that huh.
Shawn Keim on Feb 26, 2009
OH GOOD GOD NO! Sammy is a terrible actor who is only capible of swearing every 2 seconds in his movies. NICK FURY IS WHITE!!!!! WHY THE HELL ARE THEY DOING THIS SHIT? I THOUGHT HE WAS OUT? GOD PLEASE LET HIS EGO GET IN THE WAY SO THAT SOME ONE BETTER CAN PLAY NICK. Do you know what he said about his favorite movie he acted in was? Star Wars. Know why? And I quote "I got to work with my favorite actor....myself. Most of my parts where with a green screen and me" What an egotistical ass.

ULTIMATE AVENGERS Nick Fury WAS ONCE INTERVIEW BY A REPORTER THE REPORTER ASKED HIM IF YOU WERE TO EVER BE FEATURED IN A MOVIE ABOUT YOUR LIFE WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO STAR OR PORTRAY AS YOU. AND YOU KNOW WHAT NICK FURY SAID? HE SAID I WOULD LIKE THAT ACTOR SAMUEL L JACKSON TO PLAY ME JOKING ABOUT IT SINCE HE WAS DRAWN IN SAMUEL IMAGE. SO GOOD MOVE!!!! YOU PPL TALKING ABOUT HIM BEING BLACK WELL GOES TO SHOW HOW DA FUCK CAN THEY MAKE A MODERN DAY AVENGERS WITH A WHITE GUY? THE WHITE NICK FURY WAS IN MISSIONS DURING WW2 HOW OLD U THINK HE GONNA BE? SO SHUT UP AND SAY THANK YOU.. IF U DONT WANNNA SEE IT DONT WATCH IT!!!
DICE on Jul 2, 2009
Yeah, well and good except Samuel L. is a worn-out typecast actor, and Nick Fury was a white man with graying hair. Oh, well. Anything can be rewritten these days. Even the Punisher went black for an ish or two... although there was, after all, a reason behind it.
Mitch L on Jan 3, 2010
Blah. Nick Fury is not a black, skinny man. Sorry. I don't care what revisionist reboot Marvel has done. I was against the change they made for Wilson "Kingpin" Fisk in Daredevil as well. Whatever though. Marvel is a silly company.
Demtor on Feb 1, 2010
Marvel has been going black for some time now.... take a character you all know...reissue him as a minority to try and boost sales in that demographic. If that's the standard operating procedure, does this mean that they have to redo the blade series with a white guy because they sucked so bad? Or do they just go in alphabetical order of minorities? Marvel has had their head up their asses for some time now....Hulk movie? (non-Norton version) Punisher? Spiderman 3? Wolverine? Ryan Reynolds playing just about every character known to man? Selling out to Mickey Mouse?.... Captain America is going to be played by Jesse James and his g/f will be that Hilter loving bitch!
