Shutter Island Trailer

Paramount has debuted a second new trailer for Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island today on Apple. This new version features a few of the same scenes we'd seen in the original trailer plus plenty more we haven't seen yet. It also doesn't spoil any of the twists and turns anymore, thankfully. The only other major change is the release date - from October to February of next year (as we already reported). Despite all that, I still think this looks incredible. It's no B-rate thriller, this looks fantastic, like it could've been one of this year's best. I've got very high hopes for this, Scorsese is brilliant, and I expect nothing less for Shutter Island.

I really, really wish I could've been seeing this movie sometime this month, but damn them for moving it!

The story of two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo), who are summoned to a remote and barren island off the cost of Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from the island's fortress-like mental hospital for the criminally insane.

Shutter Island is directed by prolific filmmaker Martin Scorsese, of everything from Taxi Driver to Raging Bull to Goodfellas to Cape Fear to Gangs of New York to The Aviator to The Departed. The screenplay was written by Laeta Kalogridis, of Night Watch, Alexander, and Pathfinder previously. This is based on Dennis Lehane's novel. Paramount is bringing Shutter Island to theaters on February 19th, 2010 early next year.

Very cool new things in this trailer!! I wish we were all seeing it this month instead of Feb. Looks like it will be worth the wait though!

This looks quite interesting. Looks like a good written story. What is more, at least in this trailer I saw some nice camera shots and good editing. I must say that I am curious about this movie. I am looking forward to see this one!:)

The first trailer made me read the book and after i read the book, I COULD NOT WAIT for this movie to come out so hearing that they pushed it back to feb. made me very irate, but o well instead of being at that movie right now, cause that is when it was supposed to be out i will just second your quote, Alex "Damn them for moving it back!!"

I still can't believe this was postponed. It's not even playing in select cities before the end of the year which means no Oscars nominations. This was my most anticipated movie of the Fall and now I'm only left with Where the Wild Things Are and Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Alex, couldn't agree more. I always look forward to a new Scorese film. He's just simply a brilliant filmmaker. And DaCaprio has really started growing into his own. Definitely disappointed in the delay but if it makes for a better film it's all worth it.

Even better than the first one! It sets the mood better and avoids that irritating spoiler from the first one. Between this and The Wolfman, it looks like February may actually have worthwhile movies for once.

Loved it! But I feel as if I can already tell the story and the ending, but I hope I'm wrong! Looks great either way.

Here's hoping this will redeem the Scorsese/DiCaprio collaborations that haven't been worth the film they were printed on. They remind me of how some foods taste amazing alone but together become a pile of shit. Here's hoping they can clean up that suspect track record.

Johnny Neat: Seriously?! The Scorsese/Dicaprio collaborations thus far have ranged from very good to great.
