Second Official Trailer for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland
by Alex Billington
December 16, 2009
Disney has just debut a second full-length trailer for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland tonight that will also be attached to most prints of Avatar this weekend (in 3D as well). Everyone went crazy over the first trailer, but you ain't seen nothing yet, as this one blows that old trailer right out of the water! Alice on Wonderland stars Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Crispin Glover, Stephen Fry, Christopher Lee, Michael Sheen, and Alan Rickman. This just looks absolutely speculator, I'm so excited for it! I haven't been this excited for a new Tim Burton movie in a while. Watch the trailer below!
Watch the second trailer for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland:
Alice in Wonderland is directed by visionary director Tim Burton, of everything from Pee-Wee's Big Adventure to Beetlejuice to Batman to Edward Scissorhands to Mars Attacks to Sleepy Hollow to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to Sweeney Todd most recently. The screenplay was written by Disney's own Linda Woolverton, of Beauty and the Beast, Homeward Bound, and The Lion King previously. This is based on Lewis Carroll's beloved series of books that were first published in 1865. Disney is bringing Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland to both digital 3D and 2D theaters everywhere on March 5th, 2010 early next year.

Looks like another overworked, gloomy, CGI-addled crapfest from one the most over-rated directors ...evah!
Stan on Dec 16, 2009
Parts of this look pretty cool, but I wish Depp wasn't the main character (no matter that it's ALICE in Wonderland) because he's going to be hamming it up in every scene.

Hmm...looks incredibly interesting. I haven't really got myself to look too into this film because I want it to all be fresh and new. And from the looks of it, this seems to be a new idea playing on an old classic. I'm liking what I see. Though Hatter's image still gets to me...I know Burton's going for crazy but come on, give him a sense of style.

I love me some Tim Burton. Sweeney Todd wasnt as up to par as I would have hoped, but I have faith in this one! It looks amazing. Alice in Wonderland is such an awesome and twisted story, which is perfect for Burton.
Johnny Heartless on Dec 16, 2009
#1 I can fully agree with everything except the last bit. I mean just because his work as of late has fallen as low as it has, and don't get me wrong, the man has made mistakes. Planet of the apes is properly treated as if it never happened, to say that charlie and the chocolate factory was terrible would more complimentary than it deserves, and mars attacks? I don't think I have to slam. That doesn't mean that his entire body of work now becomes over rated. Nightmare before christmas is brilliant. His take on batman changed the way the industry treats comicbook movies. Dust off beetle juice and watch it again. It holds up. Ed wood! and I personally loved his take on sweany todd

When Tim Burton discovered CG he started to suck. This looks like shit.

this looks awesome
thepunches on Dec 16, 2009
I love the books and am intrigued by the trailer... but I loathe Johnny depp as the Mad Hatter. Ughh, What the hell is with the creepy makeup? Can't say I'm crazy on their take on the Queen of Hearts either...
AD on Dec 16, 2009
damn, no rickman as caterpillar
Mars on Dec 16, 2009
Part of the trailer kind of reminds me of that bizzare scene in Robert Zemeckis' Christmas Carol where Scrooge is shrunk and is sliding down drain pipes. Not that Alice was ever chased by ghosts wearing chains.
Stan on Dec 16, 2009
I guess that explains the pig in some of the promo posters
Eric on Dec 16, 2009
WOW! this looks amazing. I wonder how much it will gross on its opening weekend? $100m+ maybe...
mC iVAN on Dec 16, 2009
This looks a bit too Chocolate Factory. There are two things I'm excited about: 1) Helena Bonham Carter 2) Crispin Glover That is all.
Fuelbot on Dec 16, 2009
To be fair Depp isn't the only selling point. Here are some others: It's a beloved story that was written during the Dickensian era. I'm not sure if the term Carrolian has been coined yet. There are other big names are in it such as Matt Lucas, Michael Sheen and Steven Fry. IMAX 3D
Kyle on Dec 16, 2009
Looks great! Helena is fantastic in it! Not a big fan of Depp but I will see it anyway. By the way, why do everybody seem to hate Mars? I love it!ahhah!
Ambient on Dec 16, 2009
Helena Bonham Carter is given a good roll in this as the Red Queen, it looks good from this Trailer but alot of it is VFX oriantaited. should bring in lots of money for Tim Burton, Johnny Depp looks good in this aswell shall be woth seeing. (Cannot Wait) 🙂

leon on Dec 16, 2009
anyone else find it odd that the entire trailer didnt have one spoken line from Alice? maybe trying to bring people in before they realize that the leading lady is a bad actress. hmmm.
wtf on Dec 16, 2009
No thanks. Maybe on DVD. Crispin Glover will be good. Can't really stand Helena Bonham Carter, especially in her Burton roles. Burton hasn't been the same since he dropped Lisa Marie for Helena Bonham Carter. Ed Wood was his last good movie. Big Fish was alright, but it was really emblematic of Burton's overindulgence in CGI.
Greedo on Dec 16, 2009
Fascinating! I think i will see this. As a kid I was always scared of this story because it creeped me out. Kinda like triplets all dressed the same. Fascinating, but creepy. Of course gotta like johnny and Helena. I think it'll be good.
arjones on Dec 16, 2009
Mia Wasikowska did have dialoge in the trailer. It was her that said "This is impossible".
Kyle on Dec 16, 2009
Marvelous, simply marvelous!
mishop on Dec 16, 2009
If you hate Burton, I don't know why you'd bother to read and post on a news item about him, except to provoke/upset fans of his output. I must say the CG is a bit much for my taste, but the design work and general energy is very encouraging. The fact that this is clearly a new story/companion piece to the original rather than a remake is also something to be happy about.
Mathieu on Dec 16, 2009
Awsome man. Looks pretty good. Could be a great Movie...
Bernd on Dec 16, 2009
Looks FAR better than the teaser trailer. Great!
Marty Martin on Dec 16, 2009
all good till 3-D part, I'll see it.
Xerxex on Dec 16, 2009
Maybe If I was trippin balls and went to see this it would be good otherwise way too much CGI and trippy bullshit for me.
Cody on Dec 16, 2009
is this really the original story?
yojoe on Dec 16, 2009
First off, this movie looks spectacular. The CGI doesn't look amazing, but that's what I like about Burton, no matter how bad the special effects are, it fits his trademark style. I don't quite understand why everybody's ripping on Johnny Depp so much considering how much we all loved him in pirates (...and pretty much every other movie he's been in), but opinions are opinions and I respect that. My opinion, I think Depp is perfect for this role because he knows how to pull out distinct characters that don't reflect any of his previous work, and that's why he's a rather exceptional actor. Now I can totally agree that I'm not thrilled about the Mad Hatter's design, but judging by the rest of the trailer, and Burtons previous works, I have no doubt that the rest of the design of Wonderland, and Depp's performance, will be pleasing enough to drop all grudges against the design and appreciate the experience as a whole. I've been excited for this movie since day 1 and I hope Burton lives up to his reputation. I will definitely be seeing this one in the theaters.
DanTheMan on Dec 16, 2009
Depp is an amazing fearless actor. Him as the mad hatter is perfect.
dedmaroz on Dec 16, 2009
What's up with the title if the trailer explicitly says Alice has returned to Wonderland? Shouldn't it be Alice returns to Wonderland or something
Jaf on Dec 16, 2009
I will only see this because Anne Hathaway is supremely beautiful. That's all.
Angry Chief on Dec 16, 2009

o.k., i just saw this trailer (above here), for the new disney movie alice in wonderland, and WOW!,this trailer make this new movie look even better then the first teaser trailer that was released for it a while back ago!. I'm definately gonna go and see this movie when it's released to theaters!, it's gonna be great!!!.
Sean on Dec 16, 2009
hey #35........anne hathaway is beautiful????? uh, no. i'm not trying to insult your opinion......... i'm only commenting because i've always found it difficult to look at her due to her bizarre look. and by the way.........look up a picture of her on "egotastic" where she isn't wearing any make-up - she's freaky looking.
beavis on Dec 16, 2009
This looks like it's the typical Burton montra. Spooky themes with cooky characters with thrown in bright vibrant colors. GET OVER IT, do something else! AND STOP BEING WITH CARTER. Good god I cannot stand her, she is so annoying and the way she looks in this movie is beyond idiotic. I just don't have any faith in Burton anymore. Congrats Goth/Scene/Emo chicks, you are gonna get more merchandise to horde over and say your life sucks.
movieraider321 on Dec 16, 2009
There's actually an extended version of this trailer on digitalspy.co.uk. For those who are concerned about Wasikowska's lack of dialogue you'll be pleased with the extended trailer.

Not impressed with the Mad Hatter at all. Loved the Queen of Hearts and Crispin Glover, though~ 😀
Kay on Dec 17, 2009
Okay okay, so it's obviously not what anyone expected. I sure didn't expect it. But you'll all go see it. And why not go see it? Deep down, it just might be a bit of fun. Why does everyone hate Tim Burton work so much? And do not bullshit yourselves, most of you just don't like the man and his style. It's dated. It's overcooked. It blows Johnny Depp for all of his seed and paints it on the screen as art. Well it works. Burton has done more faithful adaptations then most directors these days. He really does try for you jack-offs-- if you couldn't tell. Fuck.
lamb of pierre on Dec 17, 2009
Fantastisch! Ich liebe Tim Burton und alle seine Filme.
Paul on Dec 17, 2009
What the hell happened to Tim Burton. He hasn't made a good movie in so damn long.
dqniel on Dec 17, 2009
What this trailer needs to be a brilliant one is an AC/DC song playing in the background. The Iron Man 2 trailer was cool because of AC/DC playing in the background. Apart from that, it's alright.
Kyle on Dec 17, 2009
One thumb up.
Nyce on Dec 17, 2009
A lot of work has been done with this project, will give it a go.
Fisherr on Dec 18, 2009
#12 big open weekends in the spring season aren't generally as big as $100 million+. The biggest open weekend for a spring release so far is Fast and Furious with around $70million. Wonderland will have trouble overtaking Fast and Furious for that honor.
Kyle on Dec 19, 2009
I'd see it just for the Hatter vs Knave sword fight. Looks amazing!

I'm just rolling around in an electric wheelchair in a supermarket listening to 'Walking on Sunshine', it's so much fun, I don't want to go home.

Mathieu said "If you hate Burton, I don't know why you'd bother to read and post on a news item about him, except to provoke/upset fans of his output." Some of us bother posting because we hate seeing good literature ruined by the likes of Tim Burton. This looks just like every other thing Burton does. Sure, it looked good the first time, but at some point, doesn't it get old? And can't he find another font to use? I cringe every time I see this film advertised.
