Singer Leona Lewis Behind Avatar's New Title Song 'I See You'
by Ethan Anderton

Personally, I think Celine Dion singing "My Avatar Will Go On" would've been a much better choice for a title song, but oh well. A new press release from Atlantic Records, distributor of the soundtrack to James Cameron's much-hyped film Avatar, indicates that Grammy winning pop and R&B singer Leona Lewis will be the voice behind the film's title song "I See You." The rest of the soundtrack is made up of original music composed by James Horner as part of the score. I'm not sure if a movie like Avatar even needs a title song, but then again, Annie Lennox's "Into the West" from Return of the King was quite a success as well.
Hopefully this song wasn't just an afterthought to try and nab an Academy Awards nomination (it certainly seems like that at first glance), but we'll have to wait to see how it all fits with the film when Avatar hits theaters on December 18th. As far as we know, the song will show up in the closing credits, which still allows it to qualify for an Oscar. In the meantime the soundtrack is available for pre-order and will be in stores on December 15th, in case anyone is dying to listen to this score right away. I doubt that information about the title song in Avatar is going to change anyone's mind about the movie, but I thought we'd mention anyway.

if Leona Lewis was painted blue she would be a perfect match of a Navi. look at her freaking nose its the same as a Navi lol. Leona Lewis is a good singer but all her songs are so predictable and abit boring to be honest.

"My Avatar Will Go On" Quite possibly the unfunniest thing ever written.

Weird, she's also doing the theme song to Final Fantasy 13. I really only hear Leona Lewis on that gay ass Cinema Radio when I'm waiting for a movie to start.

Does anyone know if there is a site where I can "sample" the soundtrack? Because I am very eager to hear this song.

Leona Lewis is a vacant puppet, quite a good Mariah Carey clone, but it really seems like she was unboxed at the auditions for the show that made her famous and her life begun. Bland.

I think they should have used the song "Avatar" by Dead Can Dance for the soundtrack...for obvious reasons. And the song is definitely unique. http://www.imeem.com/artists/dead_can_dance/music/voGfhh--/dead-can-dance-avatar-remastered/

It's all part of the Hollywood sponge effect. Everybody knows this is going to be a hit movie, with a huge opening (look at all the hype we're all generating RIGHT NOW as we comment on this forum), so of course, they're doing a musical tie-in, which will sell more CDs (or MP3s), making Leona Lewis richer, Atlantic records richer, James Cameron richer etc etc. I bet Goerge Lucas wishes he had had a pop hit for his crappy Star Wars prequels.

she may not be from USA but she is a world class singer and no matter what any of you bitter buggers want to say you cant change that fact. i suppose if britney or some other americam mime artist did the song it would be great for you sad little people, just show there body it doesnt matter whether they can sing thats how shallow some of you are becomming.

I can't believe what I am reading from some of these comments! Why the hell do you ppl hate Leona? Is it cause shes from the Uk? Is it because she is the best pop and rnb singer on the planet right now? Is it because shes even better than most of the singers in america? Whatever it is you all need to go and short your lives out! Leona is lovely, an amazing singer and a huge worldwide star! I would look at it if she was some short of bad person or something but the ppl that are calling her a bitch are sick in the head! Just face it anyone of yous losers would love to be her right now!

I don't hate Leona.I just think her music is rubbish. She is a product.Cowell's product.I don't care if the world think that she has a fantastic voice and that she is so talented. Her voice doesn't do anything to me apart annoying me big time. Her and all those R'n'B divas.I don't care if she is shy and lovely either.I judge the music and not the person. So I don't hate Liona, I just dislike the idea that somebody I don't like musically has been picked to sing a song for a movie I've been waiting for the last 5 years. 21 Tom...face it.Not every person on the planet has bad taste in music and want to change sex...

I don't think this fits the film at all... I love Horner's soundtrack but this does not sit well with the rest of it. Why tack on a Maria-esque ballad to a film score based on really beautiful ethnic instrumentals and vocals. It'd be like ending Lord of the Rings with Gollum's Rap or something. On the Leona debate - she comes across as bland, and besides her first song hasn't really done anything ground breaking. She needs new management I think, sticking her in a massive dress in centre stage and signing yet more ballads does nothing to make her more interesting.
