Take That Michael Bay - McG Says Terminator More Realistic
In our latest installment of the on-going battle between directors Michael Bay and McG, Terminator Salvation director McG bragged to Digital Spy about the realism of his movie versus Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. "I think Transformers is a terrific picture, but that's a picture whose genesis is in a toy. They're sort of more colorful and optimistic and the pictures are sort of breakdancing and flips and backspins," McG said. "But ours is a very different, real world." If you haven't been following this "fight", it began when Michael Bay took a shot at McG, then he fired back to him in an interview later on.
McG continues, "Ours is a world of, 'This is where we can be ten years from now'. The whole idea for doing this movie was to honor the first three movies… But begin again!" Yep, McG is already back to pitching Terminator Salvation and why it'll be such a great restart of the Terminator franchise. I hate to continue publicizing this Michael Bay vs McG fight, because it feels like I'm creating more unnecessary turmoil like east coast vs west coast fights in the rap industry, but really, it's fun to see and in the end, I'm just excited to see how these two movies both fare this summer. Who's side are you on? Michael Bay or McG?

Neither One of them is known for his CGI-movie realism, so it's hard to take a side. From what little footage I've seen, The Terminator movie looks more realistic so I'll go with McG so far.

McG > Bay
David Wilson on Feb 28, 2009
One is Transformers for nostalgia. One is an attempt to revive a franchise. These 2 need to stop bitching about each other, because no one should care whether Paris Hilton or Nicole Richie is right.
L on Feb 28, 2009
McG all the way
geez on Feb 28, 2009
I'm all for Michael Bay. McG is trying to bring back a franchise that that should of died in the 90's.
The_Phantom on Feb 28, 2009
McG wins because he has Bale and no one messes with him. Christian Bale would beat the crap out of Michael Bay.

McG but I wish he'd use his real name
Jmoney on Feb 28, 2009
awww number #9 protecting Bay...aww how cute!
ohboy! on Feb 28, 2009
You guys are morons. McG (I could stop here, just because the guy calls himself "McG") did Charlie's Angels and Michael Bay did The Rock, correct? /argument.
Branden on Feb 28, 2009
But Michael bay also did Pearl harbour. yuck. I think both will be nice experiences at the cinema, but T4 will be the stronger film.

bay because lets face it pearl harbor was better than Charles Angles 1 & 2. Bay- The Rock, The Island, Bad Boys 2, Armageddon, and the New Transformers McG- Charles Angels 1 & 2 and We Are Marshall. Bay wins Hands down
Darren on Feb 28, 2009
I think both will be very good popcorn flicks and summer fun. Can't wait
Daniel on Feb 28, 2009
All in for Bay on this one.
John Who? Oh, John Woo. on Feb 28, 2009
Comparing the two is very difficult considering they both have different visions when it comes to making films. McG is a decent director as is Michael Bay. I am sure Transformers will do much better considering it's fanbase. So I gotta go with Michael Bay despite his other disaster films.
Silence on Feb 28, 2009
Michael Bay? YOU ARE TRASHING MY SCENE! I want your explosions off this set, you pr*ck!!!
John Connor on Feb 28, 2009
Terminator all the way! I think both will be good and fun, but I have to agree with McG on this one.

McG loses for making Terminator pg-13 How can everyone forget that?
James on Feb 28, 2009
I have been waiting to see this Terminator flick ever since I saw the future war battle sequence in Terminator 2. As for Transformers I was also waiting for long time to see it on the big screen, and guess what it came true two summers ago. So there you go Terminator wins all the way. Bring on the ass beating from Christian Bale, and no don't say your f**king sorry.
Jamie on Feb 28, 2009
I'm for both.
xerxex on Feb 28, 2009
I hear they're going to settle this whole, in a steel cage, at the next Wrestlemania.
Dave Lister, J.M.C. on Feb 28, 2009
I barely even heard McG until this movie. Seriously, look at his line up. I have very little faith in this movie as I did the Batman revival and I was spot on with that. Bale needs to be ditch. Awesome in American Psycho, but Batman is not his forte. I'm siding with Bay because McG has nothing in his pocket except hope and a storyline he'll no doubt screw up.
wassssssuuuuuupppppppp on Feb 28, 2009
McG, down with Bay. Ive hated him ever since he bashed HDDVD!(ilove blu-ray but its taken till just recently to catch up to the features HDDVD had years ago.)
Dac_fan on Feb 28, 2009
I am sorry I may be terribly uneducated in the showbiz area but what the hell has this guy (Mcg) done to earn your trust or respect in any way and to listen and believe in what he says ? I honestly cant believe the hype this movie been getting if you think about the crap that T3 was. Arnold isnt even playing terminator in this one and yet you all are shitting your pants in anticipation. Is it Bale that makes you drool ? He is a good actor but not even Arnie, special effects or a bucnh of good actors as sidekicks could save the T3 shit. Now more on topic. I dont like Bay either but at least he has delivered some popcorn flicks compared to Mcg who has done absolute shite in his past unless you count Charlies Angels as top notch action quality,... Now I do not want a blind terminator fan telling me to fuck off. I bet you will, but Id like to hear some response that makes sense to me.
Shige on Feb 28, 2009
McG actually seems like a cool guy. Bay is a fucking egotistical moron. But he's a far better film maker - and he's way more experienced. I'm looking forward to both films, but Salvation is gonna be awesome.
T1-Billion on Feb 28, 2009
i agree terminator is more realistic, but come on this guy is doing a rip off , of a classic. T1 and T2 is the only 2 terminators for me.
darrin on Feb 28, 2009
Id have to go with Michael Bay... but i'm more excited to see the new Terminator film than the Transformers film.
Nikhil Hariharan on Feb 28, 2009
They're both Douches. Michael bay however, is a used one.
Ak on Feb 28, 2009
Michael Bay! He's cool. So is McG. Both movies will be big. T-4 not so much if Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't in it. Even James Cameron didn't give his blessing.
Pickle on Feb 28, 2009
Let's bitch about this. Talk about publicity, publicity, publicity. Having said that......I'm with Michael Bay!!!!!!!!!!!
Blue Silver on Feb 28, 2009
Does Michael Bay know what a steady cam is? I'm not really a fan of both, but the terminator story line interests me more.
Quanah on Feb 28, 2009
Im sorry but McG sounds dilusional lol . This is where we can be 10 years form now? Im sorry there both not realistic ..but isnt that the point to these movies . They are science fiction movies . Who cares Transformers is based off Toys . Terminator isint real . If it is Im moving to California so Arnold can protect me from the crazy terminators that show up later on . This shit is silly McG sounded like an idiot in this . Sorry to all his fans but he did .
Superchyle on Feb 28, 2009
I don't like either of McG or Michael Bay. While yes I enjoyed The Rock and Transformers, I think all of his other movies have sucked. Same goes with McG, but I think We Are Marshall was decent. But yeah I think T4 will be way better, probably not great, but better then Transformers. McG is going for I guess realism, which he should, thats what Bay goes for but fails most of the time.
Jack on Feb 28, 2009
how can you say sometihng is more real when neither of them really exist so you cant know the answer to that...haha just an observation
sam on Feb 28, 2009
Real world where robots destroy the future and have the ability to travel back through time? Give me a break, McG is full of horsepoo.
AlphaEden on Feb 28, 2009
I don't know much about McG, but as long as he is facing Bay; Go McG Go!! 😀
Deepak T on Feb 28, 2009
I'm for both. I'm a Sci-Fi buff so as long as niether movie blowes I'll be cool.
Eric on Mar 1, 2009
Neither/both. Take your pick. I'm going to see both and in neither case am I expecting a thoughtful, moving, well acted and well written Oscar-bait flick. Robots and explosions. That's it.
John Madden on Mar 1, 2009
MCG whats that ...................... his rap name!!! MB all the way at least he knows what a money shot is.... the eternal sunset !! lol
craig on Mar 1, 2009
Both directors are talentless hacks.

I find it amusing how a year ago everyone hated McG, but now the tables have turned.
Ryan on Mar 1, 2009
Bay...McG...I'm the guy with the gun. Oh sorry..had my Bruce Campbell flashback! Always a Bay fan...I will give Terminator a try though..I'm no fool! ;P
Bry from Chi on Mar 1, 2009
McG. Cus when watching the action in Salvation, you'll be able to see what's going on compared to 30 edit cuts per second Bay.
John J on Mar 1, 2009
i fucking like both franchises, terminator films have great special effects & transformers also do,i'm going to watch both films not for the realism in their effects but because i want to see them(they both look great). i don't really give fuck about the directors childish my special effects are better then yours fucking shit, shut the fuck up.
zetsu on Mar 1, 2009
both films will rule the box office this year
jono on Mar 1, 2009
McG being a nice guy doesn't make him a talented director. That being said if Bale liked the script I have faith in his ability to pull the level up a bit. There's certainly no-one close to Bale in La Douce2. Both movies need to appear on-screen w/ boobie scenes intact.
Jonas Imp on Mar 1, 2009
Personally Ill probably like Terminator Salvation better. Transformers will be cgi wonderfest, but Im sure the plot and story will be lighter fare compared to to the darker more intense TS.
JimD on Mar 2, 2009
Both make millions off the movies they produce, so it really doesn't matter b/c both will do well. MCG has Bale, Bay has Megan Fox. both are going to scream and pound loud noises and explosions into our heads and honestly no ones gonna care who the better producer is. As crappy as the plots were in CA1 and 2 they still made enough to warrant another one. and unless your movie critics, you should be going to the movies for entertainment, not to debate the producers, and if you do then your truly missing the whole point of entertainment and you should stay home
Get a life on Mar 2, 2009
How about a "Terminators vs Transformers" movie? Here's the plot: Humans have been enslaved by Skynet and Autobots come to the resque. But Skynet forms an alliance with the Decepticons 🙂 Ok, i'm just kidding
Anastasios-Antonios Toulkeridis on Mar 2, 2009
All I have to say is we need a Megan Fox, Moon Bloodgood full-frontal face-off.
Jonas Imp on Mar 2, 2009
MICHAEL BAY ALL THE WAY IM LOOKING FORWARD TO BOTH MOVIES BUT MICHAEL BAY IS THE BEST. BAD BOYS 1&2 THE ROCK ARMAGEDDON PEARL HARBOR THE ISLAND - UNDERRATED MOVIE "ITS MINDBOGGLING HOW IT FLOPPED AT THE BOX OFFICE" TRANSFORMERS 1&2 MCG OF WHAT I REMEMBER CHARLIES ANGELS 1&2 -MOVIE'S WERE MEH WE ARE MARSHALL AND NOT TERMINATOR SALVATION IM DEFINATELY FOR MICHAEL BAY AND THIS PROVES IT. FIRST
rick on Mar 2, 2009
I BET MCG WILL USE CGI FOR THE PLANES AND JETS FOR THE ARMY MICHAEL BAY HAS DIRECT CONNECTION WITH THE PENTAGON TO GET ANY TYPE OF JET FOR REAL ON FILM. WILL NOT BE SUPRISED IF MICHAEL BAY HAS ACCESS TO AREA 51. SECOND
rick on Mar 2, 2009
I hope this pushes the envelope so that it brings out the VERY best in both projects. As fans of movies we should not be settling for less.
joe moms on Mar 2, 2009
I have faith for TS. I really hate this kiddie film called transformers and i think those giant robots were first seen on Japanese animation and manga. remember old transformer used to look like stupid blocks.
rchie on Mar 3, 2009
i'm going for terminator looks like it has a story compare to transformers.
kate on Mar 3, 2009
Transformers was so bad I wanted to eat glass. Bad Boys tasted like ass. Pearl Harbour licked balls. Michael Bay should be put to death for his crimes against humanity!
jilly on Mar 6, 2009
It's always been Michael Bay
JoeG on Apr 15, 2009
It's funny that McG is saying that Transformers is based on a bunch of toys and that's why it will fail, because Terminator Salvation is marketing the hell out of this movie with action figures, toy ships, and little masks so your kids can pretend to be a blood thirsty machine who's only purpose is to kill all humans.
Ryan Williams on Apr 26, 2009
Terminator may be more realistic, but Transformers will be more fun. that is but one reason as to why Transformers will make more money at the boxoffice. Not to mention the CGI for Transformers will blow Terminator out of the water. Bay has McG beat.
