The Foot Clan is Returning for the New Live-Action TMNT!

The Foot Clan

Oh hell yes! Early this morning I was sent an email from a reader with a link to an article at a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles blog called The post includes details about an open casting call in Hollywood for martial arts experts to audition for "the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, hitting theatres in 2011. We will select the best from the auditions to be a part of the stealth TMNT nemesis, the Foot Clan." Wait, what, the notorious Foot Clan is coming back for that upcoming live-action movie!? As a big TMNT geek, this is just plain awesome to hear! Too bad I'm not a martial arts expert.

The casting call is asking for anyone 14 years or older (they're going young) to prepare a 30-second martial arts demo. "Judges to include actor and martial arts expert Ernie Reyes, Jr (aka Keno from TMNT II), Jason Morgan from the American Taekwondo Association, and 2011 TMNT movie producers Scott Mednick and Galen Walker." This sounds like that scene from The Secret of the Ooze where Keno goes in and tries out for the Foot Clan. But it's real life! As we all know, The Mirage Group confirmed in April that a new live-action (not hybrid) TMNT movie is in development for 2011. Glad to see the Foot are back! But who is directing?

Oh, God. What's worse, the fact that grown men are excited about a new Ninja Turtles film or the fact that it's actually being made?

I hope Ernie Reyes is gonna be in it! "PIZZA"!

@ #2 I'm 22 years old, the second film I ever saw in theatre was the live action ninja turtles film and it floored me and had a lot to do with my childhood. I'm not ashamed to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the animated TMNT film from a few years ago, and I sure as hell am not ashamed to admit that I'm looking forward to a new live action TMNT film series. There's nothing wrong with grown men being excited about something that reminds them of their childhood. But as I am older now, I do hope the new series is grittier. Maybe even Nolanesque ala Dark Knight? REALLY glad to hear that the Foot are returning, though I had expected them to I can't think of any other major adversaries they have.

I want in. I want more turtles. I'm 25 and next to ghostbusters turtles is my 3rd most favourite thing in the world (2nd obviously being ghostbusters and 1st being my partner India) I can't wait I paid to see the last turtles movie in the theaters and I'm gonna pay too see this one! @ Number 2 'sean' I'm sorry you never had a child hood. I Cannot wait...

oooo! this going to be awesome!

ray on Jul 9, 2009

I don't want it dark and gritty, though. I want it fun and exciting, full of comedy and martial arts action. No need to put this cookie cutter fad of making things like TDK to be successful. I wouldn't mind, though, a complete re-boot.

Any chance this could be a movie that is not only being made to sell toys and we get back to the original turtles who all wear red masks? If they would do it like the comics, the originals, and not a toy commercial that would be awesome. Nothing wrong with the old ones but they did change the mask colors to sell toys. The Eastman comics were perfect. The cartoons, not so much. Foot Clan, good start.

#8 a cookie cutter fad?...not so much. the Original Turtles were dark and gritty, That's how it should be. and I CANNOT WAIT!

Oh god, my husband is gonna have a seizure when he hears this. He is a huuuge TMNT nerd. I think he still has his little TMNT outfit, complete with belt and all, somewhere up in his mom's attic. xD

SuicidalOptimist on Jul 9, 2009

cookie cutter fad doesn't even make sense in the context you used it

bottom feeder on Jul 9, 2009

Pete obviously never saw the first one and forgot that TMNT was out before TDK and that Batman and Batman Returns was before TDK. But wait, I forget, nothing existed before TDK. *rolls eyes*

Who gives a shit, the foot clan, we have seen already in both the live action movies and the CGI movie.....when they announce Bebop and Rocksteady, then that would be article as of now FOOT CLAN...whoopidy Dooo Alex

CORNBOY on Jul 9, 2009

#9 they changed the masks so it's easier to identify them.

Caleb on Jul 9, 2009

@Moviegimp on Jul 9, 2009 This is cool. I might even try out; and as big a geek as i am.. I have to say this.. get out more I mean who cares if they altered the mask color, it doesn't mess up the storyline, it simply makes the cast more identifiable to the target audience. Not a bad thing.

DoomCanoe on Jul 9, 2009

Foot-In-Ass Clan: The Return of Red Forman. I'd see that movie.

Dave Lister, JMC on Jul 9, 2009

woot! such a better idea than animated movie. the live action were cheesy in a good way! I just hope they don't make the outfits too slick to the point they look fake (ala Watchman or GI Joe). but that's just a minor note. woooo!

dave13 on Jul 10, 2009

@ #12, you're joking right? How dare you reveal your husbands secrets on the internet! haha. It just makes me .>

Sabes on Jul 10, 2009

Sabes on Jul 10, 2009

Awesome! Follow the blueprint of the first and second movies (complete with Henson suits) FTW! WoooT!

Mark on Jul 10, 2009

i hope they do it a lot like the foot clan from the animated version, leave shredder dead. and stay young the foot clan was always a street gang really taking kids of the street for their army

harrison on Jul 11, 2009

All i can say is hell yes!!!!!!!!! i hear there getting the original voice actors, and that the suits will be like the old school ones and the masks will be part cg, and as far as i know they are thinking of giving us the beginning of the turtles, so number 9 we may see them all in their red bandannas, and if you remember the different color bands were used to distinguish which turtle is which but the weapons in the the original comics and the different shades of green they were so i hope they go more of the comic book way, but either way i am stoked. i grew up with theses guys!!!! oh and on a higher note, i am really hoping to see bebop and rocksteady maybe even crang !!!!!!!!!
