Whoopi Goldberg

Plenty of big news has come straight from Disney's D23 Expo. Friday had huge updates regarding a new Pirates of the Caribbean movie, a new Muppet movie, and a new animation label with Guillermo Del Toro.  Well today straight from the showroom floor John Lasseter gave some juicy casting updates regarding Toy Story 3, and thanks to the Lee Unkrich (the film's director) and his Twitter page, we weren't out of the loop.  New cast members include Pixar veterans Jeff Garlin (WALL-E) and Bonnie Hunt (Cars, A Bug's Life), as well as Whoopi Goldberg making her Pixar debut, but the coolest casting tidbit is a surprise.

Along with these comedy all-stars, Lasseter confirmed that John Morris, who voiced of young Andy in the first two Toy Story films will return to reprise the role. Though he's now 24 years old, Morris will be playing Andy at age 18. This just makes me love Pixar even more and I truly respect their dedication to their roots. Regarding the other cast announcements, there aren't any specifics about what roles Garlin, Hunt, and Goldberg will be filling but I'm sure they'll be just as fun as the recent announcement of Timothy Dalton playing a hedgehog toy named Mr. Pricklepants. Don't forget that Michael Keaton is also voicing Ken.

With all the talent from the first two films returning and new cast members coming out of the woodwork, Toy Story 3 promises to be a delightful romp. We'll be keeping our ears to the ground for further updates.

I trust Pixar unconditionally. I am absolutely certain that Toy Story 3 is going to be a smash hit, with domestic box office exceeding $200 million. Go Pixar, keep up the good work.

# 1 and # 2 If Up, a non franchise film, can make 290 million I would bet on Toy Story 3 making _at least_ 300, probably closer to 350.
