Trailer for Nancy Meyers' It's Complicated with Meryl Streep

Universal has debuted the trailer for their big holiday comedy called It's Complicated starring Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin, and John Krasinski. This is, to put it frankly, exactly the kind of movie my parents will love. But maybe I'm just in a bad mood, because this trailer just pisses me off. It's exactly the kind of trite crap that I didn't want to see any more of this year. The other thing that really upsets me about it is that I'm sure the title, It's Complicated, was "inspired" by the relationship options on Facebook (ugh), in an attempt to modernize this in the most ridiculous way. You can do better than that, Universal!

A comedy about love, divorce and everything in between. Jane is the mother of three grown kids, owns a restaurant/bakery and has an amicable relationship with her ex-husband, attorney Jake. But when Jane and Jake find themselves out of town for their son's college graduation, things start to get complicated.
It's Complicated is both written and directed by Oscar nominated filmmaker Nancy Meyers, of The Parent Trap, What Women Want, Something's Gotta Give, and The Holiday from 2006 most recently. Universal is bringing It's Complicated to theaters everywhere on Christmas Day, December 25th. Will you see it?

I usually HATE these kinds of movies but I guess it's Alec's charm & my getting older, not their kind of older but still, that makes me not gag. Add Diane Keaton or Richard Gere etc and I would have hurled but not in this case. It's funny how Alec has allowed himself to get off the fit side and is paired easily now with Streep.

I really liked Something's Gotta Give so I am looking forward to this one. I wasn't as pleased with The Holiday, so I hope this is one is more like the earlier film. It's nice to finally see some romance for people over "a certain age".

ugh!............great actors but, this looks like something for the "over 70" crowd. a little too "cutesy" for my tastes.

Wow, what a cast! "not the greatest time to be feelin' groovy"...hilarious! I hope Mary Kay Place has a large role, she's has been around forever (she used to write episodes of "M*A*S*H ) and has always been a favorite.

I agree with Johnny Neat, if Diane Keaton or Richard Gere were in this it would suck. Howvever, Maybe Alec Bladwin's presence gives it just enough edge to be benign. Meryl Streep and Steve Martin lend a "too cute" vibe to the rest of it, though. - Probably a rental.

Looks like a fun, playful look at life for people over 45. What's wrong with that? I'm getting there myself, and I like to think I can go see movies that feature somebody besides 20-somethings and actual dialogue, instead of romantic comedies that are made for men who've never left the junior high gross-out mentality. Thank God Nancy Meyers is making movies.
