COMIC-CON 2009
Wanted 2 Starts Shooting Soon, But Who is Coming Back?

The one-and-only Timur Bekmambetov has showed up a few panels during Comic-Con this week, and therefore some exciting updates on Wanted 2 have arrived. First off, SuperHeroHype reported that Mark Millar said the script was completed and they're starting shooting in eight weeks, though they later found out that this meant they were just going into pre-production in eight weeks. We already know that James McAvoy is back as Wesley Gibson, but in case there was any hesitation, Timur confirmed during the panel for Shane Acker's 9 today that he is back and and that they're preparing to shoot in the next few months.
Without spoiling too much, though, Timur did mention something else interesting during that panel. He said that they're trying to "wake up" Fox, the character that Angelina Jolie played, and that she might return (but isn't confirmed yet). I'm sure Universal wants her back - I would argue she was one of the big names that made it such a success in the end. But how could she come back if she died, though? Well, Timur says that she ended up in one of those healing wax baths - so maybe she didn't die? This is good news for fans of Wanted, as it looks like we could see this next summer. We'll keep you updated on Jolie's return as well!

Weak...did we need a second one? Some movies just need to remain as one movie, alone. Stop making sequels and come up with something original. Even if it's not, STOP WITH THE SEQUELS!!!

The problem is the fact that the Wanted comic ended as Wesley defeated Sloan (called Dr. Seltzer in the comic). The story from the original text is done, so making a sequel would be an original story that could suck badly. Having Jolie back would feel like a cheat, like when someone comes back from the dead in a comic or a series is ret-conned (like Spider-Man recently was). Cop-outs are stupid.

first one wasn't good enough, but i guess sequels are easier than marketing (ie.taking a risk with) new IPs

Wanted was definitely cool and Wanted 2 can be cool as well, but they need Angelina Jolie. Morgan Freeman is definitely out and I'm not sure James McAvoy can hold a blockcuster by himself. He's a good actor but I don't think he's a movie star. I have no idea how to bring her back, though...

Atrum...you mean like everyone in comics? Have you seen the Black Lanterns bringing everyone back from the dead? Heck, they can't even keep Batman dead.

I want another Wanted too, but they need to leave Jolie's character dead or it'd be utterly absurd...just cast another smoking hot female to carry this one through its marketing and create a fresh story rather than rehashing old/dead characters...

I agree completely #10. That movie was not bad till the fucking "loom of fate" got introduced. And James McAvoy's annoying yell got old really fast.

If you ever played the game....there is a part where they say they cant find Fox's body after her "supposed" death...so its possible she can come back...But either way...I thought the first Wanted was a fun movie...and another one will make a good summer action flick....There is nobody coming up with anything fresh and original so why the hell not

I loved Wanted, but if the fans liked it enough McAvoy was really good as Wesley, I say bring him back with a new supporting. Bringing Jolie back is a total copout, having her means they trust in their franchise if they have to rely on a name and face to sell their movie. So I say nay to bringing fox back.

#14 I agree, although AJ has a lot of personality please find McAvoy a new side kick. Wanted was my favorite movie of last summer so I'm happy with more either way but it just seems there are way more story options with AJ left behind. Although...maybe Fox had daughters, Angelina Jolie computer animated to look 23 years old again, and her twin sister, Megan Fox, and after a really wet hit they like to shower together....

James McAvoy is a great actor (I still hope he'll be casted for Bilbo Baggins), so it's good to hear he's be back. I hope Angelina Jolie will return, because I loved her as Fox.
