Watch the Trailer for Taika Waititi's New Sundance Film 'Boy'

I'm a bit hesitant about featuring this since I don't like watching trailers for Sundance films before going to Sundance, but I thought why the hell not. Boy is the new film from New Zealand comedian / filmmaker Taika Waititi, better known as Taika Cohen, who directed Eagle vs Shark in 2007 (read my review). Quiet Earth, who was the first to find the trailer, just emailed me about it, as I've been looking forward to seeing Taiki's follow-up to Eagle vs Shark. It was announced a few weeks ago that Boy would be premiering at the Sundance Film Festival in January. After watching this trailer, I definitely can't wait to see this there. Enjoy!
Watch the first trailer for Taika Waititi's Boy:
When his father returns after many years away, 11-year-old Boy (James Rolleston) and his little brother Rocky (Te Aho Aho Eketone-Whitu) must reconcile reality with a fantasy dad they created in their minds.
Boy is written and directed by New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi, aka as Taika Cohen, who made his feature debut in 2007 with the Sundance gem Eagle vs Shark and also directed some episodes of "The Flight of the Conchords" as well as the short film Two Cars, One Night. This will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival 2010 in January. This doesn't have a US distributor yet, but it'll probably find one at Sundance.

Doesn't look half bad. I love Eagle vs. Shark, so, I guess I'll be watching for this one.

@Scott McHenry - yeah you should go see Gentlemen Broncos and I'll watch this. Lets see who gets to find it in a cinema first. Which Sundance screening is your choice at clown?

As a Kiwi living in the U.S I don't get to see much of my own culture on the goggle-box anymore...noticed plenty of Maori extra's in Avatar though and Weta Work Shop's involvement though. This is a little more lo-tech, but looks pretty kapai.

THis movie should make it easier for Maori input in cinema. Its always been there but up and comers with fresh vital input may get help for thier creativity in bigger ways.

As someone who grew up where this was shot and in 1984 was a similar age, I can't wait to spend an hour and a half going back to a very cherished time! Now living in the UK will make it all the more special...let's hope that Billy T, Barry Crump might get a mention..!
