Watch This: Awesome New Extended TV Trailer for Daybreakers

November 25, 2009
Source: Yahoo

Lionsgate has debuted a one-minute TV trailer for the Spierig Brother's Daybreakers futuristic vampire movie. We haven't seen another trailer since the first one debuted in June, but this new spot looks awesome. Daybreakers showed at a few film festivals back in September and I've heard nothing but great things from everyone who saw it. I unfortunately missed all the screenings for it, but even people like SlashFilm's Peter Sciretta and Collider's Frosty were really impressed by it. I think it's a cool concept and I absolutely love the dark blue visual style. Combined with positive reviews, I must say I can't wait to see this when it comes out!

Watch the new extended TV trailer for Daybreakers:

If you never saw it, you can still watch the original trailer for Daybreakers online right here.

In the year 2019, a plague has transformed most every human into vampires. Faced with a dwindling blood supply, the fractured dominant race plots their survival; meanwhile, a researcher (Ethan Hawke) works with a covert band of vampires (Willem Dafoe, Claudia Karvan) on a way to save humankind.

Daybreakers is written and directed by Australian brothers Michael and Peter Spierig, who previously directed a 2003 sci-fi horror film titled Undead. This was shot in Australia in late 2007 and has been in post-production since. Lionsgate is bringing Daybreakers to theaters on January 8th, 2010 next year.

Jesus H. Christ! I sick to fdeath of fucking vampire movies. Twilight and the little girl heart throb age group put a stake through that genre. I really don't give a shit about Daybreakers no matter how good it may be; fuck it!

Sam on Nov 25, 2009

You care enough to come cry about it, if you dont care then why even bother commenting.

ocp on Nov 25, 2009

by the way this movie looks fraking awesome

-----------------------NUMBER 2 Nobody gives a shit about your sorry ass life or opinion. Yes, Twilight sucks balls. Vampires + Makeup+ plus regular wolves posing as werewolves, we get it. But you dont need to sound like a diickhead and no one wants to hear your shit.

Roberto Planto on Nov 25, 2009

Heh. Was listening to that Placebo cover only yesterday.

#2 - Shut the hell up. If you are tired of vampire movies THEN WHY THE HELL DID YOU CLICK ON THE TRAILER? This movie will breathe life (punny, eh?) into a dying (lol) genre. I can't wait. I'd like to hear anyother news on this movie when you find it, Alex.

Angry Chief on Nov 25, 2009

Can only hope this works out well - it could be complete cr@p.

TVSpy on Nov 25, 2009

pretty good concept, a lot better than stupid Twilight. should be good

Andrew on Nov 25, 2009

#6, what was the song title? I don't know much about placebo, but I liked that one. Thanks!

Scotty97 on Nov 25, 2009

The song is called " Running up That Hill " "Running Up That Hill" is a song by the British singer/songwriter Kate Bush. It was the first single from her 1985 album Hounds of Love, released in the UK on 5 August 1985. It was her first 12" single. It was the most successful of Bush's 1980s releases, entering the UK chart at no.9 and eventually peaking at the no. 3, her second-highest single peak. The single also had an impact in the United States, providing Bush with her first chart hit there since 1978 where it reached the top 30, and featured prominently within the Dance Charts. Bush also performed the song with David Gilmour of Pink Floyd at the Secret Policeman's Ball. The B-side of the 7" single contains Bush's song "Under the Ivy". The 12-inch single is an extended remix and an instrumental version of "Running up that Hill", as well as "Under the Ivy". Contents Originally titled "A Deal with God", representatives at EMI were hesitant to release the song for three years, as they feared the religious connotations of the title could have prevented radio play, especially in the United States - which also explains why the song's copyright dates back to 1982. Because the singles from her previous release, The Dreaming, had fared so poorly in the charts, Bush relented and changed the title, however the album version of the song is listed as "Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)". The executives of EMI initially wanted to release another song, "Cloudbusting", as the lead single from the album. Bush successfully convinced them to release "Running Up That Hill" first, citing that it was the first song to be written for the album, and felt that it better represented the broader feel for "Hounds of Love". The song can be heard during the final credits of the 1988 film The Chocolate War. The song was also used as the theme tune for the 1986 BBC childrens drama "Running Scared". The song's drum beat inspired the single "Speed of Sound" by the English band Coldplay. Dutch band Within Temptation released a cover by the same name in 2003. The song is referred to in the Hold Steady track, "Hornets! Hornets!" The Placebo cover of the song was featured at the end of the episode "Judas on a Pole" from the US TV series Bones. It was also featured in the fourth season episode "The Avengers" from the US TV series The O.C., the eighth-season episode of C.S.I. titled "A La Cart" and in the theatrical trailer for the 2009 feature film Daybreakers. The Placebo version was also featured in the pilot episode of The Vampire Diaries (TV series) shown at San Diego Comic Con 2009.

^^^^Did we really need all that? Well made trailer im kinda sold.

Cody on Nov 25, 2009

Thx Lazarus, I had forgotten how much I liked Kate Bush 🙂 This film looks great imo. Girls have Twilight, we guys have vampire flicks this. Don't see the problem here, no# 2 / Sam. But Billington ? Any chance you could put up a high rez trailer, and not this third rate-bootlegish quality trailer-and without mascara adds??!!!

David Banner on Nov 26, 2009

vampire flicks like this* ......someone needs coffee/new keyboard...

David Banner on Nov 26, 2009

#2 ... Like I always say, if you don't like it, don't watch it. But if you are sick of them now, wait another year, there are 10 more vampire movies on the horizon.

Hattori Hanzo on Nov 26, 2009

Harrori says 'wait another year, there are 10 more vampire movies on the horizon.' If that's true then it looks like we are all going to be sick of them.

Freaky Friday on Nov 26, 2009

this is a proper vampire flick i cant wait to see it when it comes out. also "Fuck them fake Twilight Vampires" @#12 Lazarus from Sparta...DETHKLOK RULES!!!!! you have done one of the dumbest thing i have ever seen on the internet you copied everything from wikipedia. all that info you add here is straight out of wikipedia you did not even source the info you getting it from. i dont know why you didnt just post the link without copying and paste it on the comment section. heres the info you got it from also heres the song Placebo - Running Up That Hill

tazz on Nov 26, 2009

I seem to remember a TV series with a similar premise. Looks decent enough though.

Marty on Nov 26, 2009

i'll be watching this one. the plot is fresh and interesting. the visuals are cool too!

beavis on Nov 26, 2009

marty (#18).....what tv series? i can't think of any with this concept.

beavis on Nov 26, 2009

Thank you #12 and #17. Yes, Lazarus, I must agree that was a bit of overkill. I just wanted to know what it was called so I could download it. Never been much of a Kate Bush fan. I think the song fits very well with the trailer, and I look forward to both the song and the movie.

Scotty97 on Nov 26, 2009

I still say fuck all these new vampire movies. Hollywood does the same shit every year; get on a bandwagon and beat the genre to death. So what exactly am I saying that's not true?.

Sam on Nov 26, 2009

Yet another American movie infested with Aussies and Kiwis.....

Not again on Nov 26, 2009

Looks awesome, can't wait! What I liked most about the trailer is the last phrase: RATED R!!! Gosh, there are so many potentially good movies out there, but they all get a shitty pg-13 rating. (referring to terminator salvation, wolverine, avatar...)

Patrick on Nov 26, 2009

looks interesting

sMITHY on Nov 26, 2009

Like Sam Neal, and Willem Dafoe this film Daybrakers looks intresting watch with intrest. 🙂

@12 way to copy and paste to make yourself look smart when the exact oppsite just happened dumb ass.

darren on Nov 26, 2009

Euh...ok I copied and pasted not to seem witty or anything, simply to give info on a question and pointed out a few facts asif I was talking to someone face to face. I knew all this way back in June. Are yu guys lazy to just post links and not just give info straight. How lazy can you be. I copied and pasted info. posting a link is lazier! See now you're the dumb asses who imply I did this for props. I couldn't give a rats mothers ass of what anyone thinks of me. But to think for me on something as innocent as copying and pasting. Please next time don't think for me, ya'll don't me and I sure don't know any of you!

Lazarus from Sparta...DETHKLOK RULES!!!!! on Nov 26, 2009

Plus this isn't a book report...I can copy and paste any info I damn well want...How the hell you're gonna assume I wrote the info to seem whatever...

painful-paul on Nov 27, 2009

@#30 Lazarus from Sparta...DETHKLOK RULES!!!!! at least posting the link is just quick and simple plus you did not even reference the source you got it from. its more lazy for someone who just copied everything and dont say where the hell they got it from. plus Scotty97 just wanted to know the name of the song not the whole backstory

tazz on Nov 28, 2009

wow looks a bit gross but nice and actiony. (very good actors too)

michael w on Nov 28, 2009

Not a big Ethan Hawke fan but the action and the other actors like Defoe and ONeill will make me want to see it. It's a different concept yet again on the vampire genre that will also make me want to see it. (boo! twilight....Yay! 30 days of night.)

arjones on Nov 28, 2009

Rated R For Strong Bloody Violence, Language And Brief Nudity.

Jana on Nov 30, 2009

Wow Sam Neill as a vampire! Looks pretty sweet! I don't think he's been a major bad ass villian in any movie before... Seems about time. I'll check it out! Hey Neill take on more villainous roles, its a refreshing look for you.
