There's one film that has consistently remained on my mind since I first saw it at the Toronto Film Festival last year and that's Goodbye Solo. It was suggested by Eric Lavallee of IONCinema and I caught a screening and was astounded. It's such a wonderful and affecting film in so many ways and I can't suggest it enough. It's about Solo, the happiest cab driver you'll ever see, who picks up a fare that wants to be dropped off at a mountain in two weeks. From there, the story unravels itself, and it's fascinating to see what someone with a free spirit like Solo does. This is one of those indie gems I wish I could show everyone!

Goodbye Solo directed by indie filmmaker Ramin Bahrani, of Strangers, Man Push Cart, and Chop Shop most recently. The screenplay was co-written by Bahrani and Bahareh Azimi, of only Chop Shop previously. This first premiered at Venice and Toronto Film Festivals last year and was picked up by Roadside Attractions for distribution. Goodbye Solo will arrive in limited theaters starting on March 27th.

Aww, that sounds a really nice movie with a lot of heart. Im sure its a very 'feelgood' movie in the end. Will put this on my list for movies to wait for! Souleymane Sy Savane acting nicely for a first time.

I love this film, too, Alex. Though for some reason I didn't love it as much as Bahrani's previous two films. Maybe I just preferred the New York settings in them? Have you seen them?

Hey Alex, I'm so glad you dug 'Goodbye Solo.' Everybody should catch it when it opens in theaters on March 27th. Roger Ebert calls it "a force of nature" and The New York Times' A.O. Scott says it has "an uncanny ability to enlarge your perception of the world." You can check out the trailer and theater listings at http://www.goodbyesolomovie.com.
