Alien Trespass Trailer

Roadside Attractions has debuted a wacky trailer for Alien Trespass on IGN today. Honestly, I'm not really sure how to describe this, other than just to say that it's a funky sci-fi spoof called Alien Trespass that stars Eric McCormack as a local astronomer who must save Earth. Will I see this? Probably. Will I see it in theaters? Probably not. It's rare that I really don't mind missing a movie in theaters, but this just strikes me as an ordinary cult classic spoof comedy rather than something truly unique. I commend director R.W. Goodwin for sticking to that old school visual style, but that's about all that looks good in this.

Set in 1957, Alien Trespass chronicles a fiery object from space that crashes into a mountaintop in the California desert, bringing the threat of disaster to Earth. Out of the flying saucer escapes a murderous creature – the Ghota, which is bent on destroying all life forms on the planet. A benevolent alien from the spaceship, Urp, inhabits the body of Ted Lewis – a local astronomer – and with the help of Tammy, a waitress from the local diner, sets out to save mankind.

Alien Trespass is directed by R.W. Goodwin, who directed a few "X-Files" TV show episodes and is making his feature directorial debut. The screenplay was written by newcomers Steven P. Fisher and James Swift. Roadside Attractions is bringing Alien Trespass to limited theaters (in 22 markets) on April 3rd.

WOW, that made me think of the old 1950's alien movies. I hope the entire thing is cheezy and doesn't take itself to seriously. That's what will make this movie great.

Might just rival for Mars Attacks on my favorites list!

I was going to say that Eric McCormack kind of has that good-looking bland guy thing down pat for a movie like this, but I have to agree with #4. This movie would have been a lot more fun with Bruce Campbell in the lead.

#5 - Mars Attacks has been one of my favorites for so long, so I'm with you on that. But this alien invasion spoof stays with the 50's. So it has the one thing Mars Attacks didn't have! The classic time period! I'll probably love this.

This has the look of the '50s down. I saw references to It Came From Outer Space, The War of the Worlds, and (I think) Plan 9 From Outer Space. Will definitely catch this one. Also, glad to see Eric McCormack in another film. Free Enterprise ruled.

Embedding a video is one thing, but do you think it’s wise to re-encode and re-brand a video with your own watermark? Is this not stealing content?

HerbertKornfeld on Jan 14, 2009

Mulder! Scully! Why not just call it X-Files 3: The Apology?

Blackstar on Jan 15, 2009

LOL this looks like it may follow in the footsteps of Mars Attacks and improve on it a bit =D Oh and @22, its in flash. The logo is probably just a sprite sitting on top of the video with the transparency turned to 50%. No need to recode the video. But you do raise a good point on the re-branding issue. I'm sure though Alex's lawyers looked into it first though.
