Worth Watching - July 29: Baader Meinhof Complex Trailer

Last year we featured a trailer for a German film called Der Baader Meinhof Komplex. It later went on to become nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar even though it still hasn't officially hit US theaters. Vitagraph Films is now bringing The Baader Meinhof Complex to theaters and has debuted an official US trailer (and poster) for the film over on Cinematical. This looks pretty incredible and considering it was good enough to get an Oscar nomination, I'm definitely interested in checking it out. Plus, any trailer that uses The Who's "My Generation" in a great way just deserves some props anyway. Take a look below.
Watch the official US trailer for The Baader Meinhof Complex from YouTube:
The Baader Meinhof Complex, aka Der Baader Meinhof Komplex, is directed by German filmmaker Uli Edel, of numerous German made-for-TV movies as well as Last Exit to Brooklyn and The Little Vampire. The screenplay was written by Hollywood producer Bernd Eichinger, of The Downfall and Perfume: The Story of a Murderer previously, and is based on Stefan Aust's book of the same name. The Baader Meinhof Complex, which was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Oscar this year, is being distributed in the US by Vitagraph Films. It's expected to arrive in very limited theaters starting on August 21st later this year.

I saw this movie few weeks back and I must say its a brilliant movie. I thought of watching it after I came to know Alessandra Maria Lara was in it (big fan of hers) and I wasn't disappointed.

This is a good movie. And don't think the terrorists are portrayed sympathetically. They kill innocent people, and the script does a good job at staying neutral and pointing out the hypocrisy of their actions. To a german audience, this film likely has more impact, due to the RAF's traumatic effect on the people in the seventies. Don't know how enjoyable this is without knowing some background, but there's lots of explosions and gun fights, so you'll enjoy it either way.

Another movie about spoiled commie brats trying to find meaning in their plush life’s by fighting for “social justice” while killing people who have nothing to do with it. Death to the anti hero! It’s like Chea only with a lower body count and in German.

Movie sucked big time. Felt more like a Discovery Channel 2 hour special on the story instead of a movie. Not worth the money.

Inkydink: Sure you saw this one, there are tow movies titled Bader Meinhof.. one is so booooring and feels like a docu, and then there´s this one.. Which is way better... Can be bought at play.com for 5 pounds which is like what 7 dollars? And it's worth every penny..

Hmmm, hope this doesn't glorify these terrorists too much. They were communists and murderers after all, and just because they had a cause and were young and good-looking doesn't mean they weren't evil.

bizzle: I saw this one. In this trailer is crammed all the action in the whole movie. It is not an action movie it's a documentary and it will bore you to death, a slow 150 min painful death. Worth every penny? Owh please i'd rather go watch Public Enemies again. Filmfans, skip this one.
