A few weeks ago we featured a batch of first look photos from Jim Jarmusch's The Limits of Control, an indie film that we have since been following closely. Focus Features has unveiled the official trailer for the film today, and it's definitely worth checking out. The Limits of Control stars "24's" Isaach De Bankolé as a "mysterious loner, a stranger in the process of completing a criminal job." Also appearing alongside of Bankolé is Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, John Hurt, Gael García Bernal, and Paz de la Huerta. This isn't exactly a hard-hitting trailer, and takes a bit to really soak in, but I still got a very good feeling from it.

The Limits of Control is both written and directed by the great American director Jim Jarmusch, of Stranger Than Paradise, Coffee and Cigarettes, Down by Law, Mystery Train, Dead Man, Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, and Broken Flowers. Jarmusch has been referred to as the savior of independent film in the 1980s and is one of the greatest experimental filmmakers working today. It's very likely that this will first premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this summer, however Focus Features already has US distribution rights. The Limits of Control will arrive in limited theaters starting on May 22nd this summer.

Awesome. The man really is a genius, and anything Bill Murray is in that doesn't involve a fat cat is good enough for me.

Stokage. Check Isaach in Diving Bell & The Butterfly for a nice primer, he's terrific.

Boo at classifying it as a "Worth Watching". Very much a "Must Watch", especially compared to some of the trailers you put that stamp on.

Why they didn't include Dead Man in Jarmusch's brief filmography in the trailer is befuddling and an insult of the highest order. That movie was fucking gold. More Gary Farmer please!
