Youth in Revolt Producer Developing 'Pictures of You' Next

December 6, 2009

Pun intended! Since Youth in Revolt has been in the can for some time now and is awaiting its release early next year, producer David Permut has had plenty of time to develop his next project which Variety reports will be the Josh Friedlander written Pictures of You. The romantic comedy revolves around a teenage boy who finds a lost camera on the beach. After developing the film, he ends up on a quest to find the girl of his dreams, whose picture was discovered inside the camera. And while the story already sounds cheesy as hell, I foolishly hope the filmmakers can resist the urge to include the awful song of the same name in the film.

I'm wondering what decade this will take place in since I've only ever seen about two teens with a camera that wasn't digital or in their phone and this specifically mentions getting film developed (but obviously that's not that hard of a re-write). If this script and story sounds familiar, you might remember that it was mentioned briefly in 2007's Black List of the best unproduced screenplays. Once again, this sounds like a another hokey chick flick, but depending on the cast and amount of comedy, I'd love to see another romantic comedic in the same vein as Forgetting Sarah Marshall. We'll keep you posted on further developments.

Actually, Pictures of You was a song originally written by The Cure. It's also actually a pretty good song too, though I'm not at all surprised a movie nerd wouldn't recognize that. What do Adult Swim fans like musically, anyway? Not sure.

One of my favorite Cure songs-- along with millions of fans. Get with it.

Okay #1 and #2, I'm well aware of the song being first recorded by The Cure, but there was no point to include a long winded explanation of that to point out how terrible that the song by The Last Goodbye happens to be. Remake or not, that song is still terrible, and it was unnecessary to have to inform everyone of the intricacies and evolution of a singular song. Oh and @ #1, Please do tell, how you're able to discern that a movie nerd wouldn't know anything about music and that the same movie nerd is also a fan of Adult Swim? Pretty hasty generalizations on both ends of the spectrum. Other than The Cure, what kind of music does a snarky, snide commenter like yourself listen to? Not sure.

Uh... did anyone watch the video? That is not a remake of the Cure's "Pictures of You". It is an entirely different song, and very horrible.

@ 5, 6 and 7 (That's you Sam) I cannot believe that you're criticizing me for using simple vocabulary words (big words) to apparently make up for a non-existent mistake. It was merely excluding unnecessary information and as #4, Nate Larsen said, it's not even the same song. But I love that my exclusion of extraneous information about an unrelated song immediately lumps me into the Creed fanbase. Frankly I'm surprised you didn't go with Nickelback. You can definitely tell you're a fan of The Cure though because you whine like one. Thanks for dispensing with the pleasantries so I didn't have to worry about them. If any of these words are too big for you just ask your Mom to use the computer or grab a dictionary (that's a book with definitions of words in them) Take it easy, sir!

Agreed, the storyline sounds cheesy and I am a girl.

Whoa guys! Venom! Calm down, it's just a song. Also, don't forget Pictures of You by Oingo Boingo. Amazing thing, that.
