Zack Snyder's All Female Cast for Sucker Punch!
by Alex Billington
March 3, 2009
"I already did the all-male cast with 300, so I'm doing the opposite end of the spectrum." Visionary director Zack Snyder's next feature film is an ass-kicking all-female extravaganza called Sucker Punch, about a girl named Baby Doll who, while in a mental institution, imagines an alternative reality to hide from the pain, and in that world, begins planning her escape. Starring as the lead will be Amanda Seyfried, first reported by IESB and confirmed today by Entertainment Weekly. Also joining the cast - Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish, Evan Rachel Wood, and Emma Stone. So how's that for one hell of a sexy line-up?
Warner Brothers has graciously given Zack Snyder a $100 million budget for Sucker Punch, so expect something pretty awesome, just like 300 and Watchmen. The four aforementioned actresses - Hudgens, Cornish, Rachel Wood, and Stone - are all fellow inmates who take on fantastical roles in the lead character's mind. Snyder, who co-wrote the script for this with Steve Shibuya, has described the fantasy world as "Alice in Wonderland with machine guns," blending such elements as dragons, B-52 bombers and brothels. Production is schedule to begin in the fall for a October 8th, 2010 release date next year.

Sounds like this is going to be fucking pimp! Go Snyder! I think Zack Snyder is my favorite new filmmaker to come up and about in the last five years....any takers?

Snyder is a good director but he's gimmicky. Not a fan of all those slo-mo sequences he tends to put in his movies.

Not bad! I guess there is yet, a glimmer of originality left in Hollywood. I'll stay tuned! 🙂

At Spider (number 3): There are two things wrong with that comment, at least in my mind. First, how is something being described as 'Alice in Wonderland with machine guns' described as orginal? If anything, it is the eventual Hollywoodification (I know it's not a real word) of a classic story. Second, Your speaking of originality from a director who has only directed films based on other works. I'm looking forward to it though, just don't stamp it with such broad words so early at this point.

Can't wait! Love the Zach! By far the best new director, period! Have loved everything he's done to date, so why should this be any different. Interesting choice for actress. ERW is amazing! And just for all those critics that "hate the slo mo" Zach does... my response is... " I fucking love it!" Can't wait to hear more... until then... WATCHMEN!

just one thought... if this is going to have slo mo too... can we get yasmeen bleeth or carmen electra to doa cameo running? its been ages since baywatch wrapped and that was still the best use of slo mo ever.! the cast sounds exciting and the story too...

The cast sounds really interesting. Zach Snyder is a great new talent, I can't wait to hear more about this. I like the choice of the cast, namely Vanessa Hudgens.

Yeah, I'm loving Vanessa in this also. She has such potential and range with her gorgeous looks. She can go sweet, but sultry and sexy too with her dark looks!! This movie sounds so good, on so many diferent levels!!!

Very interesting story and casting, also the fact that Vanessa Hudgens is in talks to be in this film, makes me even more excited for this movie to push thru.

What impresses me is the variety of the actresses, they all have very unique 'styles' for lack of a better word, especially, Hudgens, Stone and Wood To sort of hyperrealize them into 'super' female characters sounds very impressive. I think its a little exploitative to cast Amanda Seyfried as the drugged up mental patient though, its her eyes! One question if theres a brothel involved who will be playing the prostitute? I think Hudgens is too damn cute to pull that off, not to mention she's a freaking disney star.

VANESSA HUDGENS, I REALLY LOVE YOU!
