Casino Jack and the United States of Money

Another great political documentary is hitting theaters soon. Apple has debuted the official trailer for Alex Gibney's Casino Jack and the United States of Money, a portrait of Washington super lobbyist Jack Abramoff, who is currently serving four years in prison. Why should you care? Besides the fascinating topic, Alex Gibney is the filmmaker behind other fantastic documentaries like Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, Taxi to the Dark Side (which won the Academy Award back in 2008) and Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. This one looks just as good and got positive reviews at Sundance. Check it out!

Casino Jack and the United States of Money was both written and directed by UCLA film school graduate and Oscar winning filmmaker Alex Gibney, of many great documentaries previously, including Behind Those Eyes, Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, and Taxi to the Dark Side. This first premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and was bought by Magnolia Pictures for US distribution. Magnolia will be bringing Casino Jack to limited theaters starting May 7th this spring/summer. Anyone interested?

first. hehe doesn't look too great to be honest, a little like the emotional michael moore "documentary style", but that's just the trailer, i guess.

i wonder when are they going to get around to making a movie about that other small time crook, whats his name? oh yeah, alan greenspan. you know, the guy who was chairman of the federal reserve during the boom years? greenspan is famous because he is responsible for that other little financial fraud called "the collapse of our entire economy caper." while he controlled the fed, he encouraged the real estate bubble to grow until it burst causing the biggest world wide economic collapse in the history of mankind. maybe its just me, but i think he may be a tad more important than this abramoff guy who stole $85 million, YA THINK?!

Maybe one of the cable networks should run a series based on all the people who had a hand in this crisis. I'd watch that.

4 years in jail for stealing $85 million, that's fucking sick. He should have been executed.
