CANNES 2010
Alex is Heading to the Cannes Film Festival Again This Year!

We're headed to France again! I'm currently in Paris, spending a few days here before taking a train down through the French countryside to Cannes. For my second year in a row, I will be attending and covering the 63rd Cannes Film Festival, which kicks off on Wednesday, May 12th this week, and lasts until Sunday, May 23rd (I return home on the 24th). I'm formally announcing this for a couple of reasons. First, to let you know posting may be a bit more sporadic than before only because the time difference is a bit big (nine hours from Los Angeles). Second, to ask you what kind of coverage from Cannes you'd like to see from us?
If you haven't seen it, you can check out the official line-up at this year's Cannes in our previous post. I've also featured a few trailers for some films that will be playing, including Rubber, Takeshi Kitano's Outrage, Gilles Marchand's Black Heaven and Xavier Dolan's Les Amours Imaginaires. I'm not as incredibly excited by the line-up this year as I was by last year's line-up, but maybe I'll discover some great foreign films that I've never heard about before and can introduce to all of you guys. I'll definitely keep you updated anyway.
As a reader, what kind of coverage do you want to see? Reviews of as many films as possible? Video updates and discussions? Daily blogs and wrap ups? Photos about the experience? I want to know what will interest you guys the most! Other than that, stay tuned for the kick off of the festival this week with a review of the opening film - Ridley Scott's Robin Hood. I'm also looking forward to seeing Alejandro González Iñárritu's Biutiful, Doug Liman's Fair Game, Oliver Stone's Wall Street 2, and Woody Allen's You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger. And don't forget that we're sponsored by Stella Artois at the festival. Au revoir!

I agree with filmschooljefe, it´s great to see the video updates because we get to sense the atmosphere around the festivals, and it´s a fast and easy way to get a lot of information

as i said on twitter, you should check out the other sections as well. they might hide some good films. i now that in the past some of them were better than the ones selected in the official competition. i personally recommend the two romanian films, aurora & tuesday, after christmas (just because i am romanian and i know the 2 directors =) ) have fun!

I'd love to see a review of Hanna, I've really been looking forward to that. Ronan was the only good part of The Lovely Bones so I can't wait to see her as an assassin. If you could get an interview with Wright or Ronan that'd be simply amazing! (glad I can live vicariously through you Alex :o)

Sorry, I found out that they're just releasing "teaser footage" for Hanna...what a shame :o( Still would like to know how that teaser footage looks though...

Hi Alex, i'm from France and i've been following your website since a long time now. What you could do is not related with Cannes but you could a list of french films that you love, like a top ten or something like that. Or a list a french directors you like. I'm really interested in your opinion about french cinema. Anyway, enjoy Cannes and all the beaches. Can't wait to read all your reviews.
