Alice Eve and Luke Evans Joining John Cusack in 'The Raven'
Back in August we learned that John Cusack would play Edgar Allen Poe in James McTeigue's period thriller The Raven. The story follows the last five days before Poe's odd death, in which the poet pursues a serial killer whose murders mirror those in his stories. Now Heat Vision says Luke Evans (Clash of the Titans) and the positively stunning Alice Eve (She's Out of My League) will join Cusack in this. Evans is replacing Jeremy Renner (who chose to take a role in the next Mission Impossible instead) as a detective who partners with Poe (Cusack) to search for the aforementioned killer who has kidnapped the author’s fiancée (Eve).
Renner's departure is a bit of a downer, but his roles in The Avengers and alongside Tom Cruise seem to make up for it. Since The Raven begins filming next month and Mission Impossible is already shooting, there was no way Renner could pull it off. Both Eve and Evans have had a surge in their careers lately. Eve just finished shooting a British comedy called The Decoy Bride and she just started shooting ATM, the thriller from Buried writer Chris Sparling. Meanwhile, Evans is shooting Immortals and finishing The Three Musketeers with Paul W.S. Anderson. As for The Raven, it certainly sounds like quite an interesting thriller. Interested?
