Casting Tidbits: Sigourney Weaver, Emma Roberts, Ashley Judd

My name is Wayne Campbell. I live in Aurora, Illinois, which is a suburb of Chicago - excellent. I've had plenty of jo-jobs; nothing I'd call a career. Let me put it this way: I have an extensive collection of nametags and Casting Tidbits. First up, Variety reports Sigourney Weaver has joined the cast of the John Singleton directed thriller Abduction. The Taylor Lautner film follows a young man who realizes he was kidnapped as a child, and is forced to run for his life after he reaches out to find his real parents. Weaver will portray a psychiatrist to Lautner's character after he discovers his own baby picture on a missing persons website.

Second, Entertainment Weekly has an update on some casting for Scream 4 as they've discovered Emma Roberts (Valentine's Day) nabbed the role that had previously been offered to Ashley Greene in the Ghostface Killer sequel. Roberts joins Rory Culkin and Hayden Panettiere as a group of new teens who are sort of the next generation of victims alongside franchise regulars Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette. Story is being kept under wraps for now, but rest assured there will be plenty of blood.

Also, Variety reports Ashley Judd has stepped up to replace Liv Tyler in Flypaper, an indie bank heist comedy starring Patrick Dempsey and Tim Blake Nelson. This will be Judd's return to acting after taking a year off to get her graduate degree at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government (she just graduated last month). Directed by Rob Minkoff (The Lion King) and written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore (The Hangover), the film focuses on a bank robbed by two groups of crooks at the same time who both come under attack by a secret enemy (Dempsey), to save the bank teller whom he loves.

Finally, Variety confirms a tidbit from awhile back as Stephen Graham (Public Enemies) has officially signed on to play Scram, a Machiavellian pirate who is Captain Jack Sparrow's sidekick in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. The fourth installment will see the pirates seeking out the fountain of youth with Penelope Cruz and Ian McShane joining in the swashbuckling fun. Shooting begins this month in Hawaii, but we'll have to wait until May 2011 to see how this latest adventure on the high seas turns out.
