Catherine Hardwicke May Be Drafted into the 'Dot War' Next

Catherine Hardwicke

Since she left The Twilight Saga behind, director Catherine Hardwicke's potential projects have proven to be far more interesting than melodramatic vampire love. At one time she was being considered to direct the 21 Jump Street movie, but The Girl with the Red Riding Hood - potentially starring Amanda Seyfried - seems to be at the forefront of her choices. However, Pajiba now reports that the director has interest in a project called Dot War, an action-adventure movie described as War Games meets Real Genius, focusing on a video game programmer who is trained by the government to fight terrorists using virtual technology.

The script, written by Laura Harrington, is old, so a rewrite is in order before Hardwicke makes a decision. Though Twilight was a less than stellar addition to her filmography, Hardwicke is definitely making it hard to discern exactly what kinds of movies we can expect her to make. The only consistent theme, of sorts, has been teen angst, and that can even be seen in her upcoming adaptation of Hamlet with Emile Hirsch (that is if she's actually going through with that project). Either way, each of these potential projects have their own unique elements which make them all interesting choices for the director, who could be an exciting addition to the very small club of talented female directors. Which film do you want Hardwicke direct next?

"21 jump street".........."DOT war"..........sounds like she is getting real classics to direct. LOL and for those who don't get it - that was sarcasm.

Hmm..not that I will rush out and see whatever she makes next I still am interested in what she does but 21 Jump Street? Please leave it as a TV show...

@1... I know that was sarcasm, but it's ironic because 21 Jump Street is a classic...

I know I'm the only person who cares about the "Maximum Ride" movie, & no - I do not want Catherine Hardwick to direct it... But what the Hell? Is this being shelved?
