Clash of the Titans Will Be 3-D After All, Release Pushed Back
by Ethan Anderton
January 26, 2010
In Hollywood, everyday is 3D day! At the same time Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows was announced as going 3-D, confirmation also came out of the woodworks in that same Heat Vision article that Clash of the Titans will also be released in 3-D. However, to compensate for the time it takes to convert this to 3-D, Titans' release has been pushed back to April 2nd, no longer making it a March blockbuster to follow in the footsteps of 300 and Watchmen. So it sounds like the studio was able to figure out a way to make the 3-D work despite Louis Leterrier's previous statements about an unfriendly timetable for a 3-D release. Read on!
Well, the 3-D naysayers almost had one blockbuster that wasn't going to leap into the third dimension, but it looks like no tentpole film is safe from the clutches of the recent trend of 3-D (except for maybe Robin Hood). This doesn't really make or break Titans for me since I think the film looks incredibly average, and 3-D isn't going to change the way that hard rock metal gets all in my ears enforcing the fact that it's just trying to hard to be a "real man's" movie. But I'm sure there's plenty of people out there who will eat this up, or throw it in the trash. So are you guys excited or disappointed to see Clash of the Titans in 3-D?

A lot of people don't like 3D, studios know, they just like to swim in their pools full of money, and they want the pools to get deeper.

James Cameron set out to change cinema, and for better or worse, by god he did. I agree Ethan that this looks pretty darn average. Can't those of us that make-or-break the success of these remakes shout loud enough to stop this stupid machoism? Subtlety and compelling characters work better I think.

wow, way to sell out Louis Leterrier! 3-D is infact the death of cinema, so to answer your question Anderton I'm very disappointed, but I will see in C.o.t.T in regular theater, I saw Avatar in regular formant, then I saw it in 3-D and it sucked in 3-D, and it still felt like an animated movie when Jake was with the Na'vi only, but I wasn't annoyed by that, now Clash is still on my list of movie's to see.

Xerxex, you probably would have enjoyed the 3-D format first had you done it backwards and seen Avatar in 3-D first then 2d.....but doing it the way you did pretty much set yourself up to not like the 3-D.

I have to strongly disagree with you #6, I saw Avatar in 3D, didn't like it much, was dragged to it by friends a second time (this time in 2D) still didn't like it, but it was a lot easier to watch and less rack focused.

My eyes and wallet hurt from these 3D films. Looks like I'll wait to rent these on Blu-ray instead.

This movie looks good to me, I saw the original again the other day just to remember it and wow its not so great, doesn't hold up for me like other classics I love, so I think I'll really like the new one, however I will not watch it in 3D, Avatar is the only movie I've never seen in 3D that looked right, didn't go out of focus didn't try to hard and therefore look like shit, and I have no faith that anyone else can pull it off unless they use his method and we know no one else has yet.

whats wrong with going 3D?giant monsters coming out the screen and other cool stuff. I think this was a great idea to go 3D,i also think Robin Hood should go 3D too.Nothing Better than An Arrow In Your Face 🙂

I laugh at the exects. Who are going to drown in the money they make off such a gimmickal idea that didn't last in the past and won't in the future. What avatar and James Camron did was create a place where unoriginal ideas can flurish and give rich people more money then when the filmmakers who want to do something original and new will change the way films will be precived ine the future. I see in ten to twenty years a new golden age of cinema but not for a while.

if they up convert this to 3D you will be able to see it in 3D and 2D at most theaters so i dont know what you all are bitching about why not give people the choice in seeing it whatever way they want. welcome to the future of film whether you like it or not!

#14, thats exactly why we're complaining, we don't want it to be the future of film and every bit of opposition could possibly help.

yeah #14 drisc87, the majority of us FS.net users are against 3-D, me included, so good liuk trying to sway us to the "future of cinema" as you call it.

CURSES! AND RAGE! 3D GO TO HELL! Okay I am not against it quite that much . . . but when a movie isn't made for 3D like Avatar was, it should NOT just be slapped on there for kicks and giggles (and tons of money). I am getting very disgusted by all this.

When I saw this trailer I said thisfilmshould be in 3D but now that it is I am kind of sad. I can't wait for the day when a 3D blockbuster stops and this shit ends. I have a feeling the public would not be so against 3D if it surcharges were not applied all the time if you bring your own glasses.

I am ampt. Very cool. But there will always be the 2D option for those that can't handle 3D motion and cost

Will see this in 2D as i planned before.Haven't seen Avatar yet, but i'm not into 3D at all. In my opinion, 3D is the new "hot and sexy naked chicks on screen that sell a stupid or not so good movie".

Xerxes...I am also an avid firstshowing follower and I think 3D is a blast. If you want to see it in 2D then go ahead, but all the comments everyday about how 3D is going to be the death of cinema are getting old. I like having the choice and this is also a great way to combat piracy so if anything, 3D is going to save cinema. If studios make more money using 3D to lure people off their couch then that's going to go towards them taking more risks on independent film makers with unique concepts instead of the endless remakes which already have an established fan base. 3D is a good thing!

You guys do realize you can still watch the standard version right? I for one love 3D. I don't see what the big deal is.

I'm with comment #1 all the way. I've seen Avatar in 3D and got my curiosity settled. I prefer 2D. Don't like wearing glasses to watch a film. It's annoying.

Agree with #19. While I loved Avatar in 3D, I don't think slapping 3D on after the fact is the way to go. Will probably see this one in 2D.

This movie looks awesome. If I have to see it in 3D then fine I will. If it is released in standard format then i'll see it that way instead. This movie just doesn't need it.

Cmurder you're probably right, but I went in to the 3-D showing knowing I wouldn't like it, only certain scenes had 3-D, and what was the point of the subtitles popping out of the screen? I will always hate 3-D, due to the fact that its a fucking gimmick.

What a joke! Pass... The original was barely a marginal movie at best, and that had Laurence Olivier. Who does this one have? I don't think this is going to be a good movie at all, in standard format or 3D. They will just jack up the price by $6.00 more for those lousy, water spotted, disgusting plastic 3D glasses....forget it, I think I'll go spend my money on the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" movie that is opening on April 2...looks far superior to this one and much more fun & entertaining!

I cannot deny that the trailers for this movie have been amazing but so were the trailers for Spider Man 3 Pirates 3 and Transformers 2 and all of those movies sucked
