Source Code

Finally, some fantastic news to report today! British director Duncan Jones, who broke out onto the geek scene last year with his brilliant sci-fi flick Moon, is currently finishing his second feature - Source Code. It's a sci-fi thriller with a time travel-esque twist (I've read the script - it's great) and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan and Vera Farmiga. A very crap quality early photo hit the web a few weeks ago but we haven't heard much else about it. However, Jones just tweeted today that composer Clint Mansell (of Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain) will be collaborating with Jones again after Moon to score this film.

I had the rare opportunity to meet Mansell in Telluride a few weeks back and he's as cool as you'd imagine for someone who came up with the brilliant scores for Requiem for a Dream and The Fountain (two of my all-time faves). I'm excited for Source Code, not only as Jones' follow-up to Moon, but because it's a great script and Gyllenhaal should be a perfect lead. Summit Entertainment is bringing Source Code to theaters on April 15th next spring, so stay tuned for more. We don't know when the first trailer will hit, but I'd be more than happy to wait for Mansell to come up with some music for that as well. Stay tuned for updates!

It still stumps me how Mansell didn't get nominated for The Fountain. That score could move a building

"I've read the script - it's great" ? "Great script"? "I love this script read it in one sitting" ? Is the script available online to read? Glad to see Duncan Jones sticking to Sci-Fi of great quality, we sorely need it!

BTW ManMadeMoon also twitted that he was fed up of leading men in their early 20s. Ridiculous, he says, they look like kids "acting" grown up. Rant over! Harrison Ford was 39 years old when he played Indiana Jones for the first time. 39! Leading men need to look like they have LIVED. Jake however is, what, 30 now? Okay, somewhere in between the reality (heavily studio imposed I guess) and ManMadeMoon's wish.

Any chance someone can put up a link to the script? Sounds pretty good to me, enjoyed Moon a lot!

I can't understand how you guys like to read scripts before watching the movie, especially a movie like this, with turns and twists...i don't get it, what's the point? It really throws you back from the real experience. I watched Moon last night, finally, and WOW, what an amazing movie! I love sci fi movies that put you right into the "action", don't try to over-explain everything, it just feels like an organic world. And Sam Rockwell is sooooo good. When he says "I don't understand" frustrated to Gerty, one of the best performances i've seen in a while. I'm really looking forward to Duncan's next work, and Clint Mansell is a freaking genious. I'd like to see more diversity throughout the movie though

@Ricardo - because a good script is telling of a good movie. Take Avatar for example, script was... enh. Visuals were great though, and that's about all there was to the movie.
