Voltage Pictures is financing and producing a new independent drama called By Virtue Fall that will be the directorial debut of Up in the Air co-writer Sheldon Turner, who you may remember most from the mini-controversy surrounding him and Jason Reitman during the award season last year. Deadline reports that Turner is in "early talks" with actors Colin Farrell and Eric Bana to star. The two like Turner's script and "want to do the film" but apparently they're "underwhelmed" by the money they've been offered. Ouch. Turner doesn't have much experience (though he did write The Longest Yard) and even I'd be a bit nervous.
By Virtue Fall is a drama that charts a professional and personal relationship between two characters that evolves from friendship to betrayal and retribution. Not sure if this is contemporary set or what causes it to evolve into a "blood feud" but it sounds mildly interesting. Here's a bit of a better synopsis from IMDb: "A newly-released ex-con seeks revenge upon his mentor who framed him for a crime he didn't commit." See, now that sounds a bit more interesting. But other than that we're just going to have to wait and see if Farrell and Bana actually sign on or if they decide it's really not worth it. If you had to ask me, I'd say it's the latter.
