David Gordon Green's Suspiria Remake Moving Forward Soon
We've been hearing intermittent optimistic updates about director David Gordon Green's (Pineapple Express, Snow Angels) gestating remake of Dario Argento's 1977 horror classic Suspiria. The project was first announced back in 2008 and last September we heard that the film was supposed to be shooting this year. Well we're about halfway through the year and we haven't heard any new details until now. Bad Taste (via Twitch) has now discovered that Argento has officially released the remake rights to his film and the producer, Marco Morabito, confirms that Green will finally be able to shoot the flick sometime next year.
Apparently Argento has come to the realization that allowing Suspiria to be remade is all right because he knows that his film is a masterpiece and cannot be overshadowed. At least he's modest. Though this is a project that has been in the works for awhile, Green has quite a line-up in his future including The Sitter with Jonah Hill and a whole slew of projects set up at his Rough House production banner which he'll be producing. I think it's great that Morabito is so optimistic about finally getting the project off the ground, but we won't hold our breath. Oh and apparently there were rumors that Marilyn Manson almost landed a role in this project, but that just isn't true at all. Anyone really excited to see this remake happen?

Why does Hollywood insist on remaking classic movies? Why not take a movie that wasn't that good to begin with and make it much better? Instead, movies like Psycho, the Omen, and many more are remade and are 100 times worse.

Well, the least they can do is make it "LOOK" good. I'm curious to see how much will be changed. will it be more modernized and how close do they want to reference the original? The original Suspiria is a work of art. every scene looks gorgeous in that film. But yeah, I'm not holding my breath just yet.

Fuck all you no talents. Suspiria should not be remade. the old one has it all and can never be topped. EVER
