Gosling and Cianfrance

After making a splash on the film festival circuit with Blue Valentine (watch the trailer here) director Derek Cianfrance and star Ryan Gosling will collaborate once again. Risky Biz caught up with the director at the Gotham Awards where he revealed his next project would be The Place Beyond the Pines. In addition, Vulture also learned from the filmmaker, at the same awards ceremony, that Gosling is on board to star in the film which is looking to shoot in the summer of 2011. However, no studio is behind the project yet, and Cianfrance says they're still in the middle of getting financing secured. That didn't stop him from teasing the story though.

Cianfrance mentioned only this about his new project, "I have a film called The Place Beyond the Pines, which is all about fathers and guns, and it has motorcycles and guns in it. One thing I wanted to do with Blue Valentine was to make a really violent film without guns in it. The next one will have guns, so it will be easier." Though I haven't had the chance to see Blue Valentine yet, both Brandon and Alex couldn't stop raving about the film when it premiered at Sundance at the beginning of the year. I've heard the passion and anger is quite raw in the troubled romance, so I can imagine what Cianfrance can do when there's guns involved. Interested?

Anyone think those guys look like brothers? Gosling is a huge talent,I'd love to see him as the riddler or a character in new batman film,or Ribisi.

Totally look like brothers. Makes me think the director is a little narcissistic and uses Gosling as a way to insert himself in his own movies. I guess that's natural though.

I agree with #2.. Scorsese did a similar thing with his first feature by having Harvey Keitel to play a character like him.
