Diego Luna & Gael Garcia Bernal

Back in August we learned about a strange new project called Casa De Mi Padre (or The House of My Father), a Spanish language comedy produced by and starring Will Ferrell with a story being kept under wraps. Though we don't any new story details, we do have a fantastic bit of casting and a small detail that gives us a hint as to what kind of laughs we can expect from the project. THR reports top notch Mexican actors and good friends Diego Luna (Milk) and Gael Garcia Bernal (Babel) have joined the cast of the film which will be told in an overly dramatic telenovela style complete with English subtitles. ¡Ay dios mio!

Garcia Bernal plays a family friend while Luna is Ferrell's brother (they'll likely be far removed from their roles in Y Tu Mamá También). Also joining the cast are the stunning Genesis Rodriguez ("Entourage") as Ferrell's love interest, Pedro Armendariz Jr. (The Legend of Zorro), Hector Jimenez (Nacho Libre) and Adrian Martinez (Cop Out). In addition, it has been revealed that "Funny or Die Presents" director Matt Piedmont will sit in the director's chair for the comedy. Now that we know somewhat the kind of comedy being attempted with this Spanish language movie, I'm certainly eager to see how it turns out. Ferrell and producer Adam McKay have likely always had a mind for Mexican infused comedy since they named their company Gary Sanchez Productions, so this could turn out pretty damn good. What do you guys think?

Garcia Bernal is an awesome actor. Can't wait to see some of his comic side.

I remember laughing to tears when i heard Brendan Fraiser speaking "spanish" in Beddazzled. But maybe it was because spanish is my native language and i could understand how incredibly bad he was at it. Anyway this could be really really funny....
