Director Pierre Morel May Call on the Supernatural with 'Ouija'
Though it seemed to take Hollywood's obsession with established intellectual property a bit too far, the Ouija film from Hasbro and Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes was given a shove into the intriguing category with the hiring of Tron Legacy and "Lost" writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz to script the project. Now 24 Frames has another interesting development with news that director Pierre Morel (Taken, From Paris with Love) is the top contender to direct the story that doesn't take the expected horror route with the Ouija board, but rather aims to deliver an action-adventure not unlike Disney's National Treasure series.
The interest in Morel certainly accentuates the action portion of the film since Taken turned Liam Neeson into a resident bad-ass on-screen and From Paris with Love had its share of quality action sequences despite being a mediocre flick overall. Discussions are still in the early stages so Morel's direction isn't set in stone just yet. After all, Morel is busy working on his adaptation of Frank Herbert's classic 1965 novel Dune, and there are several other unnamed directors in consideration as well. For now, this sounds infinitely more interesting than a Stretch Armstrong movie. We'll keep you posted as this story develops. Would Pierre Morel get you interested in a Ouija movie?
