Disney Developing an 'Enchanted' Sequel with Anne Fletcher

Enchanted

This is fantastic news! Enchanted was one of my favorite movies of 2007 (not even kidding), it's such an incredibly fun movie, packed full of magical Disney charm. Variety has announced that Disney is developing a sequel and has hired Jessie Nelson (I Am Sam, Because I Said So, Fred Claus) to write the script and Anne Fletcher (Step Up, 27 Dresses, The Proposal) to direct. Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld, the two musical geniuses who made the first one what it was, will return as producers. No word if Amy Adams, James Marsden, or Patrick Dempsey will officially be back for this, but it's expected that they'll all return.

Variety says this sequel may be ready as early as next year, but they're still in the early development stages. Enchanted 2 fits perfectly with the Disney's "plans to make more movies that define the Disney brand." For those that may have forgotten (or never saw the first one), Enchanted is "Disney's riff on its classic fairy tale features, revolving around Giselle, a princess who is banished from her animated world by an evil queen and thrown onto the live action streets of Manhattan to fend for herself." Although I don't think Fletcher/Nelson are as talented as Kevin Lima and Bill Kelly from the original, I'm still totally excited for this sequel. You?

The most important person they need returning is Allan Menken.

I wonder how many references to Pirates of the Carribean will be in the sequel.

Wait... what??? Are you guys serious?? or just being sarcastic?? They only reason I watched the movie was because it was an in-flight film and I couldn't jump off the airplane.

It's about time - I was starting to worry. How could they possibly forget about 'Enchanted' when they made 340 million worldwide, not to mention current and future DVD sales and cable resids. I love Amy Adams and am happy to see her get back in Giselle's shoes before whe needs a walker.

What if Enchanted 2 had some sort of time travel plot. A reference to Disney's A Christmas Carol. Meryl Streep might be good as an older Giselle, as she prooved she could sing in Mamma Mia! But who who would be a good younger Giselle? Dakota Fanning? Emma Watson? Someone else simmilar agewise?

If Enchanted hires Alan Silvestri to do the score, they are heading in the right direction.
