Disney has announced (via Deadline) that they're moving up the release of their upcoming Muppets movie, officially titled The Muppets Movie, to Thanksgiving next year. It was originally scheduled to open next Christmas, but they've now moved it up to November 23rd, 2011. Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie the Bear, Gonzo, Animal and the rest of the gang will reunite in theaters just in time for the 2011 Thanksgiving weekend. Disney's Chuck Viane says Tangled's success is proof Thanksgiving is a good spot and also adds: "I have spoken with The Muppets, and we all agreed this comedy is a great fit for the holiday 2011 time frame."
James Bobin ("Flight of the Conchords") is at the helm of this new Muppets movie, which follows Walter & Gary (Jaon Segel), two die-hard Muppet fans and roommates who must save Muppet Theater by reuniting Kermit, Piggy, and the entire troupe to stage an "old-fashioned extravaganza." The cast is full of all kinds of celebrity cameos and other great random appearances, including Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, Rashida Jones, Zach Galifianakis, Ricky Gervais, Alan Arkin and Billy Crystal. Shooting is still underway, so we'll keep you updated. I hope they're working on a teaser trailer to debut sometime in the near future - I want to see one!

#6 That's what I heard too, but those were just rumors because Paul Rudd stated that he was not asked to be a part of it...yet. I'm really curious to know who it's going to be...I'm hoping it's Rudd.

Billy Crystal? Never understood the appeal. But the rest sounds fantastic. Saw Tangled and it was shockingly good, so I have high hopes for this.
